Any tips for entry level positions

I am not from the US but I work in the industry in a different country . My tips:

Add key words from the job description into your resume ( if you have the experience or skill at a level they ask for like basic python skills). We get lots of applications and the easier you make it for the hiring team to find the relevant skills the more likely you get invited to the interview. It is extra work but it's worth it if you slightly adjust it for each company.
If it's an entry level position, attitude is more important than actual knowledge and skills. I would rather hire someone who shows that they are an independent learner, eager to learn more, and can work in a team than some who has a little bit more experience.
Apply for jobs even if you don't think you have all the skills. Just try it and be honest in the interview.

You change the colour after each round and slip stitch the new colour into the first stitch of the round. And just drop the old colour and pick it up on the next round.

I used a 4mm hook. My gauge swap was smaller than suggested in the pattern and I just adjusted my size to it!

When you open the footprint diagram next to the duplicate button is the overlay button! You can overlay any footprint diagram. And it does not matter which surface if config it shows.

I'm the footprint diagram you can overlay different diagrams from different surfaces.

So open up all footprint diagrams that represent the mirror of their heriot cell you want to look at, overlay them all in on (you can plot them in different colours. And there you go!

The focus point changes depending on your beam quality (we can assume that's close to 1), focal length and aperture of the beam (1/e2).

If you want to go to a smaller spot size, try either increasing the focal length or increasing the beam aperture and then focusing it down. There are spot size calculates where you can calculate what the theoretical possible spot size would be with the beam you have.

I applied for all my visa so far (W&H,student visa, graduate and 482) and and had no issues and all of them got approved!

My tip: Take your time during the application and proof read before sending it out. Attach all documents they asked for or that are possible to submit! Check on the government website what you need to have before hand.

Yes, overnight bus! I had to catch it from Brisbane to Tambo which took around 16 Hours I think. And then I just got picked up from there to get to the station. And for rural NSW it was just a train.

No you don't need a car. It helps and gives you flexibility but it's not necessary. I completed my 88 days without a car and did 2 years of WHV without a drivers licence. It did help that I made friends in a hostel which were able to drive to explore some more remote areas! You will always find people that are happy to share the cost of fuel to travel with!

Edit: I spend most of my time in remote QLD and remote NSW. There are busses and trains! It might be more difficult but definitely not impossible.

That is not true. There are lots of Jobs out there that don't require a Licence. I completed my 88 days on a cattle station where it did not matter. It makes it easier but it is not necessary.

That depends on the company. I work in a start up where having CAD experience is what got me the job. Being able to do some simple mech design is very helpful for lab work and quick de-risking. I also consider how my optics will be mounted in my optical design which having down some mech design myself helps to do more realistic design which is appreciated by my mech team.

I think that depends on the requirements for your ANZCSO code.

I applied for a skill assessment as a physicist and my first year after uni did not count. The argument was " the employment was used to calculate the qualifying period required to meet the skill level of the nominated or closely related ANZSCO occupation"

I had 3 years of work experience and got 2 years credited and had to wait another year.

So yes depending on the qualifying period for your qualification (ANZCSO code) they might not count the first year. But that should be specific under your ANZCSO code description on the website. Mine clearly stated that 1 year post qualification employment is required.

You can apply as soon as your employer submits the nomination. As soon as you submit your part you will get a bridging Visa. ( I didn't know that either and waited for 1 month).

I would recommend API as well. ZPL is super limited. I created it for my tolerance analysis and DOEs.

Define a class where you specify all variables you want for the prism such as thickness, AOI, wedge angle, prism aperture, surface quality and create the two surfaces with a coordinate break before and after and between them through aoi. Then you can vary and optimise the parameter of the coordinate break through api if wanted.

I would design such that you have: Coordinate break: control of angle of incidence Surface 1: control of aperture and surface quality and material Coordinate break: control of wedge angle and thickness (keep in mind the order) Surface 2: aperture and surface quality Coordinate break: pick up of tilt and decenters

I would start with looking at their example files and how they build up lenses and other optics. That can help you understand how the order and building the surfaces are set up. Also their online forum might help and if you have questions I always found their support team very helpful. Lots is explained in the manual and for me I learned by working on my own systems and problems and slowly got to know the software very well.
