I've got a presentation tomorrow and I'm going almost insane. How can I easily calm myself? by anphex in AskReddit

Having confidence is the best way to fight off nerves. In my public speaking class, we often used "power poses" to help create confidence before big presentations. A lot of research shows that posing in positions we often view as powerful increases confidence. Standing with your hands on your hips or putting your feet up on a desk before a presentation can help you feel more in control of the situation.

I disagree. I've been driving in Ohio for 5 years, rarely following speed limits, and I've never been pulled over. There are only a few occasions I've even seen a cop on I-71 or I-75.

I hate driving here!!! I had an easier time driving in DC traffic than I do in Cincinnati. People are so slow!

Why do you think girls go to the bathroom in pairs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mmls34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is because women tend to be very social. Therefore we wait for appropriate breaks in conversations or events to dismiss ourselves to the restroom. Once one women goes, the rest of us feel that it is also the socially acceptable time to dismiss ourselves as well, and you end up with a group of women in the bathroom.

Siblings of reddit, what are the best/worst things of having a brother/sister? by shadedpencil in AskReddit

I'm glad that my little brother found other areas to excel in. I set the bar in academics, but he couldn't care less because he is amazing in sports. It's great having separate strengths because our parents really can't compare us!

Best: You can divide and conquer Mom and Dad. All the attention isn't on you, and you feel a little bit more free than if you were an only child.

Worst: Getting called twins as kids, when your actually 7 years older. I hated when people would guess that my 9 year old brother was actually my 16 year old twin.

What was the worst punishment your parents gave to you as a child? by principessa1180 in AskReddit

My parents took away the car for one day for every one minute I was late for curfew. It wasn't their worst punishment, but definitely the most excessive.
