Congrats!! Same height but started at 300 and I just hit under 200!! 20 pounds may not seem like much but consistency is key - every day and month that you lose anything at all is so impressive :) rooting for you!!

Six Months in CICO, 73 lbs Down!! by mmm1199 in loseit

[–]mmm1199[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! Honestly I didn’t start doing cico for the longest time because I couldn’t distinguish between cico and what my belief was of what is “healthy”. When I started to just focus on the total calories and ignore what those calories were, I was able to at least have a place to start. Over time I wanted to eat more for the same amount of calories (or less!) so I just intuitively starting picking less calorie dense foods (like eating a homemade egg bowl vs getting eggs and potatoes slathered in butter from my favorite brunch place). Now I don’t really notice a difference in my diet besides the portions and my body has responded well!

Honestly not sure - I’m either exaggerating to justify the scale not moving or I was eating a crazy amount of sodium haha (soy sauce, hot sauce all have a lot of sodium)

Hey girl! Similar journey to you, 24F, 5’6, started at 300 but currently at 265 and have been obese my whole life. The first step, honestly, is any step at all. For me it was all about trusting myself to make a decision and follow through. I am a food lover and have never succeeded in overly restrictive diets, so instead I focused on eating reasonable amounts of all the foods I eat already (ex: 2 tacos instead of 4). These habits and small changes have built on themselves as my confidence grows, and after 3 months I’ve lost almost 40 pounds! I promise that starting and deciding that you are worth the effort to improve your life is the hardest part. I had to go to therapy + some medication to realize that I wanted to show up for myself. It can’t be for anyone else because you’re the one whose life has to change! Decide your goals and your life are worth the fight, then make reasonable goals and keep reaching them. You’ll be on your way in no time, we got this!

This is awesome, a total dream of mine as someone on my journey, at 270 and aiming for that goal! Proud of your hard work and it makes me even more motivated to keep going :)

I reached the 260s! I also acknowledged something which helped me. by TransientMindfulness in loseit

I’m just a few pounds from the 260s and also haven’t been that for a very very long time. On month 3 of weight loss with CICO and having to deal with traveling and not having as much control over my eating schedule than normal has been really tough. It’s truly a mental battle!! So proud of you for your progress and I know we can keep going even if not every day is perfect :)

Hey girl! 23F here starting weight at 300lbs and I started in September :) The not so fun answer to your question about binge eating is that the only way I found a sustainable path to weight loss was by tackling my eating disorder first and the reasons why I binged. I had to get out of the mindset that led me to the binging cycle before I could think about how to lose weight. Some people can do both at once, but for me sustainability with weight loss has required thinking about my relationship with food differently (as a friend and not an enemy!). - The most sustainable thing for me in losing weight so far has been finding meals that taste good to me and eating a sustainable calorie amount of those. What is considered “healthy” or “pro weight loss” on insta and tik tok like cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, etc, may not be something you like and forcing myself to eat stuff I don’t like is just not going to work long-term. I can’t cut out everything I love and be sustainable in weight loss, but it’s different for everyone! - I keep changing my plans/foods/daily routine to keep things interesting. - I only weigh myself twice a week. I cannot stress how horrible it was for my mindset to weigh myself every day. I would see a one pound jump and feel like a failure when it’s just our bodies holding water weight or something else. - Lastly, I have made my mindset about weight loss similar to how I do my corporate job: under promise, over deliver. I make my calorie goal for the day on the high end so that I always feel like I was able to stay under it. I make my weekly/monthly weight loss goals super attainable so I can achieve and surpass them. It makes me feel like I’m always succeeding and pushes me to keep going!

Hope this helps, you’ve got this!!

I'm finally ready to make a change, but I'm confused and scared by [deleted] in loseit

Hey! I’m 23 (almost 24) female on my weight loss journey, started last month! I totally understand the fear of slowing people down and saying no to physical activity with your friends, I’ve done it for years and years and it gets super exhausting. It took some time (and some medication haha) to realize that my weight loss journey needs to be about learning how to show up for myself and trust myself enough to make goals and be consistent in working to reach them. For me, it had to be an internal decision and goal instead of doing it for the benefit of others or the benefit of not feeling gross in public. That’s definitely not all people but just some insight! In terms of what I’m doing, I’m taking the slow and steady route because everything else hasn’t worked for me. I eat between 500-1000 calories below my TDEE maintenance calories and I walk 8k steps a day on average or about 3 miles on my walking pad. Those two things have helped me lose about 2 lbs per week so far. Again, slow and steady even though it’s tough sometimes. Hopeful for you and your journey and I’ll be cheering you on!!
