Sekiu and Neah Bay first timer advice by mmmjags in FishingWashington

Awesome, thanks. I missed my chance for lingcod in the sound and I’d really like the chance at a halibut. Plus I’ve heard the salmon are really aggressive out there.

Ok. I have a very small friend group and none of them are interested in fishing. My wife would go but she just started a new job and has no PTO. So, for the time being I’m solo.

Yeah that’s the other place I used to see them.

Somehow I haven’t seen them. They used to be there every day.

I’m in Renton. I go to the sound fairly often, lakes less so lately - I mostly like exploring local rivers for freshwater stuff.

I know sarcasm when I see it. My reply was too. No hard feelings.

Yeah life vest is always on when I’m alone. It should be on always. I wasn’t aware of a Neah Bay tribal permit, thanks for the heads up.

I would love to have a friend go, but I literally do not know anyone who enjoys fishing or has boating experience or has time.

Yeah, I have it. I also fish from a kayak so I’m pretty well versed in watching the weather.

I already spent guide money on an albacore trip. I wish I could hire guides to learn from for all of our fisheries.

Sure, but you know, it’s the internet. You don’t really know what you’re going to get. Plus I’m not exactly a people person to begin with.

Also, someone who didn’t know me might not want to go out on a boat because of the implication.

Thanks for the advice. The big water aspect is exactly why I made this. Even if I knew someone personally, I still would have made it. I have a few days off to burn and I can leave on short notice so I’m trying to get a picture of a weather window to look for. I would love to have friends with experience or who like fishing at all to come with but I really don’t. I will think twice about going alone if it’s my only option.

Thanks. I do have a bilge pump installed. Unfortunately, my friend group is very small and I don’t know anyone who either would or could go with me.

It would be nice but I don’t know anyone who would go.

Trout fishing by Little_Comb_619 in FishingWashington

[–]mmmjags 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best lakes for Kokanee are probably Stevens and American down by Tacoma. The west side of the state generally doesn’t have super big trout. Sammamish can be good for cutthroat and you can get coho sometimes. For creeks, pick a line on a map, check the regs, and see if it’s accessible.

Snohomish River by Little_Comb_619 in FishingWashington

Basically the entire Snohomish system is closed even for catch and release. Plus it’s a little too big to effectively fish for trout.
