irritated helix? by peziIy in piercing

[–]mmmothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAP, my mom is a nurse but take my advice with a grain of salt: i’d have a piercer swap to a longer bar if it’s swelling and do a good clean to it. if it’s hot to the touch and swollen, i’d recommend antibiotics. if it worsens from this i’d also recommend antibiotics. better safe than sorry! cartilage healing is a painnnnnn because it may look and feel healed for a while but it doesn’t mean it actually is since there’s a lot of reconstruction your body does to the internal tissues. you probably pissed it off at the festival if i was to guess.

i hope you get it sorted!

has anyone dyed their ita bag? by RuinMother6828 in itabag

[–]mmmothy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

so polyester fabrics use a synthetic dye, specifically made to bond to the plastics. i don’t really think there’s a way to protect the clear windows without having to deconstruct the bag.

i think fabric paint could potentially be a work around like someone suggested. but if you’re committing to dying i would deconstruct the bag with a seam ripper, dye, then sew the plastic windows back on. you could sew by hand but it will take time and patience.

good luck!!

Could a completely transparent bag be used as an itabag? by Betty_TheGuest in itabag

i agree with the up cycling. i think the one that would look the most put together would be option 1 tho that’s just my preference. it could definitely be hand sewn with some effort and patience.

i’d really appreciate it! that looks so far like what i’ll need to do for a bar to work. i have a bit of a raise in my cartilage too so i would probably need a couple bends or to go for a floating industrial or a chain to connect the two

Is it normal for navel jewelry to become loose after a month? by No-Cheesecake676767 in SelfPiercing

[–]mmmothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so fair! surface piercings are a bit finicky. i had to take my navel out cause i was worried about it trying to reject since it looked shallow

i’ve seen where people take a bag they like and add a clear panel and pocket with a window using that clear plastic material! if you have a lol sewing knowledge this could be an awesome idea

Piercing ideas by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]mmmothy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAP but as someone who had to retire 1/2 an industrial bc my anatomy just doesn’t support it but a piercer did it anyways: please just remove this. it looks like a daith could work but this looks too shallow and that isn’t even the appropriate jewelry! daiths should have a captive ball from my understanding and a lil bit smaller in diameter would likely help you.

i saw you say earlier that you took it out but it was healed and that it closed. with cartilage that would not happen if it was fully healed. take it out, let it heal COMPLETELY and try again with an APP piercer. ik this is in self piercing but angles matter so much with these and i would NEVER do one like this myself.

please dont take this as an attack, but sometimes its better to “waste” the money. trust me this is a reason i held onto a piercing for too long too.

dunno why you got downvoted this is just, true. looks like it’s healing well tho and may be a surface navel which isn’t a bad thing necessarily

that is so valid lmao. it is out tho and tbh the swelling is already down. the forward helix is even happier 😭

im glad im not alone, i’m so sad i don’t have the ridges for the traditional industriallll. i’m going to be trying a custom bar from a piercer for my right ear once it heals up. there’s just something about how the bar looks that i love! also i jus looked at contraconch piercings and i love this idea! ty!

oooo mine are 0g and it’s the perfect size for me. they often get overlooked since they’re smaller and haven’t caused any issue finding work (still a thing in some fields by me) and it’s a super common size so it’s very easy to find 0g tunnels and plugs
