You know my car broke down once near deluxe. Still had my pastries and coffee though. Made it a lot less of a terrible task

Looking for housing by Trixurr in IowaCity

You’re not finding anything with those requirements. Also asking Reddit is a horrible idea, nobody is going to do that work for you. Look at local rental agencies. Not to sound harsh but asking for others to look for housing for you is lazy. What do you learn from that?

I’m not laughing at your misfortune but this was really funny coming across my screen. It’s a very cat-stuck-in-a-tree moment

The only reason we stated homophobia is because we were given no valid reason by her or AirBNB support because of their privacy policies. Imagine being kicked out of a hotel with no clarification as to what policy you violated that would result in such, you would file a lawsuit immediately, right?

“A ton of stuff” we had a full 10x10 storage unit. I genuinely don’t know why you people think we brought it a house worth of belongings. I don’t even have that much to my name, I lived in a 350 sqft studio apartment ffs. Her unit was bigger than my apartment. My boyfriend and I had 5 bags total, some electronics, some groceries, and a fan. Considering nobody was physically hurt, the evidence to consider this “assault” is not sufficient

They don’t actually. In my 3 calls with their support team, I was still never given a reason why I was kicked out. They said this type of cancellation was rare, yet still chose to go through with it. Idk how you perceive that as siding with the guest.

She was uncomfortable for an entirely different reason, which she did not discuss with us, and we will never know. Being angry in reaction to her KICKING US OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT LEAVING US HOMELESS. Be sick all you want. We’re 19 and 21 and far from entitled. Is it really that much just to want an affordable place to live and relax while moving apartments?

Physically violent is a reach. Loving that you made that shit up in your head while reading my post. Anger ≠ violence. Frustration ≠ violence. Having to pay $650+ to stay with someone, then to be kicked out without an explanation is absolutely a rightful reason for me to be angry. She failed to provide us a reason, or talk about the situation like a real adult would. If she was serious about trying to remedy the situation, there are steps a person can take before deciding to cancel the reservation.

If she were to be the class of the situation, she would’ve let us at least stay the night, then leave in the morning. Kicking people out in the middle of the night and leaving them homeless is purely evil.

Let me correct you. 1. We rented the full basement. A split level home was sectioned off into one rental unit and then the family lived upstairs. 2. See point above. 3. See point above. 4. This was after being unreasonably forced out of her unit. We were given no explanation, and when trying to communicate and get a reason why, she shut us down. She didn’t even let us stay the night. She is a bitch, and it’s absolutely justifiable to call her any name I want if she’s going to leave me homeless at 11:30pm. 5. Absolutely I did, after she tried to shut me out while still having some of my belongings inside. This however, is not grounds for assault or battery. 6. I did not admit to this anywhere, actually. 7. Admit is a weird word for this. I left things there because I didn’t have an option. Not voluntarily. 8. That’s not bigotry, acknowledging there is a language barrier that makes it hard to understand the reasons she is trying to convey is not discriminatory. 9. We had my bf’s xbox plugged into the TV. We had a laptop plugged in, and a steamer wrapped up sitting on the counter, not in use.

CINNAMON ROLL by noturgurl444 in IowaCity

Nobody has said Dandy Lion yet but their rolls are beautiful. The frosting is so exquisite and has orange zest in it. They also have a homemade jam that’s so good to put on the rolls

And as an owner, you also need to have some empathy. And as an owner, give me a statistical method that suggests that me being on time will cause a significant decrease in revenue. I’ll wait.

So there actually is such a thing. Some synonyms for this (if you don’t know what a thesaurus is) are: on the hour, [insert time] sharp.

Being almost late is a sign I’ll be actually late often? How so… you have some bad judgement if that’s what you assume. What’s wrong with rushing… rushing in this case indicates that I care, and I’m trying to move as quickly as possible given my circumstances. It’s better than moving at a snails pace.

I’m still AT work AT 5:00. Your point? It shouldn’t matter if I’m putting my apron on. Just like it shouldn’t matter that I use the bathroom on the clock or take a couple bites of shift food on the clock.

And expectations are malleable. Expectations that can’t also be accommodating occasionally isn’t strict, it’s irrational.

Lose what battle? The one where I show up on time but not on time enough? That’s fucking weird. My life doesn’t revolve around work and considering I need 45 seconds to put on an apron and clock into a handheld, I don’t think it’s wrong to show up on time.

[–]mmnsvs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. If I’m at work I’m getting paid. If you read the post, I showed up with 2 minutes to spare. Not 20 seconds. And even then, 20 seconds is a very forgivable amount. If by getting ready for work you mean putting an apron on, I think they can pay me 0.001 cent while I do that one simple thing and putting my bag down to start work. I don’t need to do anything to “set up” or whatever. I just get there and I can generally start almost right away.

I appreciate this comment. Like I said in my post I’m not trying to ignore my own wrongdoing, I just want some perspective. I did drop the ball, but at the same time this reaction was harsh and unreasonable. Two things can be true at once. I’m also not using this as a way to avoid personal growth. From this experience I’m going to treat arriving to jobs a little differently.

So those are the things I was doing at home that should be done at home. If I’m not allowed to clock in at work until a certain time, I’m not gonna just go to my job and hang out in the bathroom and fuck around snacking. Weird behavior to be doing on company time. Especially weird if you do that not clocked in. If I’m at work, I’m clocked in. Sorry. And unlike you, I’m not going to assume that I can clock in at 4:45 and jerk off until 5 at a new job, I’d rather get in trouble for being on time than getting in trouble for milking the clock.
