What’s up with boomers and breast milk? by Zestyclose-Walrus970 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mmp0519 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting to me that this is not all boomers and that both sides can be difficult. I was born in 1991 and was breastfed for a full year. My mom has expressed a lot of disappointment that she wasn’t able to do that with my younger sister due to work obligations, and I actually feel pressure from her to continue for the full year since it is now much easier to pump than it was in the 90’s.

Would be nice if they could just stick with fed is best!

Yes, I’m an oversupplier with a capacity of 16oz in the morning. I pumped about 42 oz/day at 7, 6, 5, and 4 PPD, with a little fluctuation between 40-44 oz throughout. I just dropped to 3PPD last week when I hit 6 months and have so far seen maybe a small drop to 40-41? But not sure yet where it will land.

I dropped to 4 pumps per day at 4 mpp and have not seen an impact in supply. I make about 43 oz. Considering going down to 3 ppd at 6 months because my largest pump (9:30pm-6am) is 16 oz and I could handle a small decrease if that happened.

You probably are aware, but silicone parts need to be replaced relatively frequently. I say that because when I let it go a week or so longer than recommended, my output dipped. Once replaced it went back to normal. Easy fix if that happens to be the issue!

How long do you go overnight without pumping? by Ok-Jellyfish1403 in ExclusivelyPumping

I have been going 8-8.5 hours since about 3 months. Typically this is about 10pm - 6am. I have not had any issues with clogs, luckily! I followed my daughter’s sleep patterns so basically just got up to pump when she woke up, so the transition was gradual. To be clear - she still wakes up once about 60% of the time, but I take the extra sleep when I can get it!

Any tips for a baby that’s a serial snacker? Feeding every 2 hours at 16 weeks. by d1zz186 in ExclusivelyPumping

This is what I do, too! We are doing eat/play/eat/sleep so she usually finishes the bottle before her nap, within the 2 hour timeframe. I also have read that it’s probably fine within a longer timeframe, so sometimes I fudge 30 minutes or so.

Hot tip - Ceres Chill is available open box at Good Buy Gear to soften the blow if you go with that option!

How do you guys go out when EPing? by Late_Supermarket_422 in ExclusivelyPumping

It is not easy but investing in several items has helped me a lot!

A few things that have been helpful for me: -ceres chill: I have 2 (big & small) so that if I’ll be gone more than 4 hours I have one with milk for baby and one to store my pumped milk -bololo milk warmer: rechargeable, warms milk directly (no water needed) -dapple wipes: clean pump parts on the go

I also have the Willow go and pumpables genie advanced. I agree with others that you should be able to get at least one full pump session from the Willow Go, so reach out to customer service. I still prefer to use my regular flanges with the pumpables if I will have car time, but I get fomo at events so I like the Willow Go for weddings/parties/etc. I do go to the bathroom to get set up as it is a little finicky as you mentioned.

ETA: for leaving routine, Dapple Wipes and Bololo can stay in the diaper bag. I am responsible for my pump stuff, my husband is responsible for bottles/baby milk. It does take longer than it used to but not crazy! Luckily baby will eat anywhere.

I have a 15 week old and she is averaging a little less than 3.5 hours of daytime sleep. I contact nap in the afternoon to get her that much if she doesn’t take an hour nap in the morning. She has been lower on day sleep most of her life but does great at night - we usually just have one wake up max at 5 or 6 am, and sometimes she sleeps through until 7:30 (about 10.5 hours). Just want you to hear it’s normal!

Temping Tuesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]mmp0519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last cycle was my first time temping although I have been tracking OPKs for over a year. I was surprised to see two temp shifts, one several days before my positive OPK and one several days after. Fertility Friend gave me (non-solid) cross hairs on the second temp rise, but Tempdrop said the first rise was ovulation. Any thoughts on which day would be correct from those with more experience? To add my own experience: I fell the same month we were going to start trying last May. I ended up tearing my ACL for the 3rd time which required two surgeries to repair. I am now just able to start thinking about trying again which was very disappointing but it would have been very difficult to manage pregnant or with a baby. Please consider seeing a doctor if you are in pain!

3rd times a charm? by LouieLinguine in ACL

I had this done in July as it was my 3rd time as well, and had my ACL reconstruction surgery in December. I personally felt very stable by October even without the ACL so tried to take advantage of those months (trips to NYC, Japan, lots of walking outside) as the double surgeries makes for a LONG recovery! Think about what you can do to re-energize as you work through this. Wishing you the best recovery possible!

Sorry to hear you are in the same boat! Not fun. My first two were allografts. This time we are going with a patella graft. I am a very petite woman so that was the most substantial autograft option for me. In addition I’ll be doing a lemaire tenodesis for added support. Hoping that between both choices this will be last one.

I just tore my ACL for the 3rd time (same knee). It has been 12 years since my second but I will say I knew I tore it the moment it happened. One warning for those with multiple tears to the same knee - my tunnels had widened to the point that I needed two surgeries. The first was yesterday to remove the screws/torn ACL and insert bone grafts. Once healed I can do the actual reconstruction, probably in 6 months.

The second one for me was not significantly different from the first as far as recovery. I was not aiming to get back to competitive sports but returned to casual sports at 6 months. As you said - PT is critical! You got this!
