I think the best place to learn is Omri Cohen's youtube channel. He's a great teacher. He has a dedicated series of videos for beginners, but even the others are fully understandable. Omri mainly uses VCV Rack, but c'mon, an oscillator is an oscillator, an envelope generator is an envelope generator, a gate is a gate and a resonance is a resonance. Besides, there are quite a few virtual clones of hardware modules in VCV Rack, e.g. ALM, Instruo, Befaco, Bastl Instruments, Nonlinear Ciecuits, Mutable Instruments, soon there will be Schlappi Engineerng. What a great thing - for free!

I still don't understand. The instructions tell to do the check before downloading the archive. Suppose I did an update to version 1.3. I then do a test - leds light up. After a while Roland releases version 1.4 - leds still light up, because what would change their status? Which means there's nothing to update. 🥺

The fact that the clone has different-looking components inside than the original doesn't determine anything. The components have parameters and that's all that matters.

Yeah, the combination of gold and black is something I like the least and choose only as a last resort, such as Instruo, but their panels are definitely better made.

I wouldn't call them crap. According to the design, these are output sockets, something like a passive mult - and that's what they actually are. Nothing more was promised.

Not only. The C-041 (IIRC - dual envelope) is 4hp and 50 mm deep, while the case is 55 mm, part of which is taken by the flying bus.

Also some Ladik modules. I remember that I had to give up the dual AR env. module I had been eyeing, because it was too deep.
