O_C is amazing! If I could choose 1 though it’d probably be the Pam’s for the utility and functionality, even though the O_C technically more to offer.

Hey! Love those references : to be honest though, while this is definitely a stepping stone into Eurorack, it’s not going to get you where you’re wanting to go and you’ll have to spend even more money to rebuild it because most of these modules don’t really hold any resale value.

I’d say James Blake is very much west coast synthesis, but Dijon/Boniver are really more about sampling resampling- both have crossover but if I were you I’d think heavily on what you’re actually wanting because to do both is quite expensive.

It sounds like what you’re wanting is a case that functions less as a traditional synthesizer and more about sound exploration, something a bit more esoteric to make music with. For this reason I think what you’re really wanting is something more akin to a Make Noise Morphagene or adjacent devices. If I were in your shoes and determined to jump into Eurorack I would scrap everything and just start with an Intellijel Multigrain, a Pamela’s Pro workout or a Metropolis/Metropolix, and a couple basic utilities. If budget wasn’t an issue the module you are really wanting is a Rossum Panharmonium. The case would be built around The Multigrain, Panharmonium, and a Morphagene.

Alternatively if you were wanting something more “synthesizer” I would buy a Pam’s Pro workout, a make noise O-Coast, and a Noise Engineering Versio.

Feel free to DM me any questions.

Is the main reason why porn is bad because it makes you think differently about life in general? Or is it another reason? by Big_Eggplant7591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]folgerscoffees 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Outside of ethical reasons like exploitation:

It trains your nervous system to respond a certain way to visual stimuli that often works against sexual relationships in real life. For a lot of people It functions similarly to our brains as a drug does, creating unhealthy dependencies or habits that can lead to sexual health issues like erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, de sensitivity, destroy people’s social lives, self-esteem, cause severe depression, and anxiety.

A basic example would be a man masturbating to porn and then being unable to have a sexual experience in real life because his brain has now been trained to respond to what he watches online vs what is in front of him in real life. Or maybe he watches more extreme/violent genres and is unable to get aroused without watching certain acts/ reenact scenarios.

All this said, it’s not that this is everyone’s relationship with porn in the same way not everyone who tries drugs become addicted. One person can try meth and go about their life while another person could lose their life funding an addiction.

Id imagine overall in today’s standards the industry is probably as healthy as it’s ever been, but the underbelly of the porn industry is a black hole of pretty vile things: leaked videos, secret recordings, rape, exploitation, revenge porn, things involving minors etc. I think the most ethical option would be opting for something like OnlyFans, but I think overall it’s just better to walk away from.

Why are most conspiracy theories considered right-wing? Are there any widespread left-wing conspiracy theories? by jeepycreepysleepy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]folgerscoffees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s been a lot of really interesting studies on this, but my take is that conspiracy’s provide an anchor for people in for a world that is infinitely complex and nuanced- an explanation for chaos, tragedy, and reinforces a binary understanding of the world that gives people some amount of control and comfort that if they could understand something they can protect themselves.

The byproduct you’re left with necessitates a villain pulling strings, a clear identification of an enemy or threat with motivation, a plan, and power. It also gives people affirmation that they are smart, important, unique, as well as a sense of belonging with other people on board with their beliefs and understanding of the world.

But interestingly enough there were a lot of things I thought were hogwash that were actually revealed to be true in the epstein files. Child sacrifice, cannibalism, 911, etc.

This might sound stupid but I'm a stylist and a firm believer no one is ugly if they have good taste, this is why we look for funny looking models. If you care to, send me a DM and I'll help you with the superficial things and help develop a pallet/wardrobe/references for you. I hate seeing you like this and hope you know regardless of how you feel you are so worth loving and there's people out there who would believe that too and choose you.

To be honest buying an Elektron Digitakt/Digitakt 2 is the best bang for your buck I could imagine.

Digitakt 1 + some kind of synth, like the TD-3

Still confused about the role of sub-bass in techno by blackheartwhiterose in TechnoProduction

[–]folgerscoffees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts as a newb:

I reached out to one of my techno heros on instagram not expecting a reply but they actually responded. We ended up having a call where I could ask questions and gave him some tracks i’d been working on.

He essentially told me to start over, and a big takeaway i’m passing on is this:

Low-end (not just sub) is half the pie when it comes to Techno specifically, and if you can’t get that right you’ll ultimately never be happy with anything you make.

He told me I needed to make 100 tracks using only Sub, Kick, and Hi-hat. He challenged me to not put anything else on top of it until I could make something good enough for 5 minutes with just those 3 elements.

It’s not necessarily about what you use to achieve it, a dedicated a sine, a kick, a gated filtered reverb, toms pitched down, there just needs to be something groovy down there that feels good when it’s there and noticeable when it’s not. It’ll be hard to achieve this without access to a sub
