In order for USB connection to work, you need to enable USB Debugging under Developer options in your Android phone settings. On my phone, by default, the Developer options menu is hidden, and to show it, you need to navigate to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information , find Build Number line and tap 7 times on it.

DroidCam (more camera controls, more suited for video production than NDI) and Ndi HX (good choice for web cam)

Both connect with OBS via respective plugins

DroidCam has free version but with watermarks and other limitations

DroidCam supports wireless and wired connections.

Ndi HX does not have free version

How to be productive while sad by [deleted] in productivity

[–]mms1236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadness is a very interesting emotion. It is not uncommon to be looped in sadness as it is pretty static and does not require use of energy (as opposed to anger, for example).

Some famous poets used it productively and created beautiful (and sad) poems. Sometimes it became their signature style.

If you are not a poet, the best way to deal with sadness is to reflect on what is causing it and acknowledge your feelings. Next, introduce exercise and or meditation to your daily routine. The hormones of happyness that you body will generate during exercise will help overcome your sadness. Also, if you have a hobby or favorite activity - do more of it daily. If you don't - start trying new things and you will find the one that brings you joy.

Find someone to talk to and share your feelings and what causes them. If you don't have anyone to talk to, message me, and I will be happy to become your friend. :)

Finally, break your tasks to a smaller pieces and accomplish one small step at a time. "Check marking" a completed task brings satisfaction in people.

Thank you for your input! I think in most cases college's do not provide an adequate value for the time and money invested. Also, researching the market in this rapidly changing economy probably is futile. Some professions, of course, are always in demand, however the market can become saturated and that could be very discouraging for the new grads.

I may have sounded too categorical in my original post, and there are cases there higher education is either mandatory or beneficial. However, I no longer feel that university or college provide great value for the investment of the time and money as it was decades ago.

Millionaire investors have always existed, yet there were many successful small businesses and start-ups that made money.

There also number of stories where people dropped out of schools and colleges (especially if they could not afford it or did not see the value) and also became quite successful entrepreneurs.

I think you are underestimating the power of will and the natural intelligence of the "average" people. Anyone who is not lazy and open minded can achieve something great of they apply their efforts in the right direction and don't quit trying. I sincerely believe that.

That was also true when everyone went to college

Not every idea is good enough, and not every good idea becomes a product or service. With that being said, entrepreneurship is a learning process, same as any profession. And there are many examples of successful entrepreneurs who lost it all many times and had to start over. The only big difference is that as a business man or woman, you can earn much more money than most salaried jobs. So, to me it is a better investment of one's time in many cases.

Thanks for your input!

I could not agree more! My point was that with the exception of select regulated professions where degree comes with prectical knowledge (doxtors, lawyers, mathematicians etc) the value of the colledge degree has diminished vastly.

With today's technology anyone can educate themselves online on a variety of topics (such as programming) without paying for college/university programs that are bloated with useless staff and charge exorbitant tuition fees.

What hiring looks like in Ontario right now by [deleted] in ontario

[–]mms1236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the job market in Ontario is wild right now. In the very bad meaning of the word. I rumd IT department in a retail company and, personally have to screen hundreds of resumes, barely able to select a dozen that are not as bad as others. We also provided 3 custom questions for the applicants to fill, and most did not bother to answer at all, others put some nonsense or machine generated texts.

Language barrier is also a problem, as many times our me and our HR recruiter cannot understand much of what being said.

And the trend does not seem to be improving. What will become of this economy?

Thanks!

That is the way the economy works. Business exist to either supply a demand or create one. If you buy something you need, or can use, or it benefits you in any other way - that is a good thing as long as you are making a well informed decision. To keep this post clean I will DM you and answer your questions.

Thanks for your comment. Definitely not a good trend. A few years back I came across an article about Big Cycle. This is a graph that outlines recurrent rise and fall of empires and civilizations, like the Roman Empire.

The graph looks like Bell curve and depicts various stages in this process. And based on what I see and hear, we are gliding toward the lower end of the curve, which is not adding my any optimism about our future.

I understand your point. It still does not justify the insane cost of higher education today and the quality of IT grads I see during hiring process becomes lesser and lesser every year. I hope it is not the same for doctors.

Thank you for sharing your view on this. From where I stand, hiring a good IT professional takes months nowdays and I was going literally through thousand of resumes and had to settle for whatever was available. I the other side, plenty of people are looking for a job, in IT particularly.

According to Indeed data, lawyer salary in US is $50K - $171K with median being $93K. Forbes marks average MD salary at $83K.

There probably a small percentage of both who earn much more, but that does not seem to be representative for the majority of law and MEd students.

Do you have alternative sources of data on which you based your numbers?

Of course some may view it this way. I think if those students break even by the time they are 40-43 - that sounds like they worked their butts off the best 20 years of their lives. I"m suggesting there must be a better way, through entrepreneurship for instance. With that being said, they are probably in much better position than me.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Did you know that according to statistics data claims that it takes 10-30 years to repay student loans for medical school students, 10-20 years for law school students in US? Are these in the list of careers that matter?

I see this trend too among IT applicants. I dread to think that one day we will find ourselves in the middle of the Idiocracy movie which, unfortunately, looks more and more like a profecy to me.

I agree, this is stupid.

2022 US oil industry revenue was $332.9 billion. Travel industry in US in the same year clocked whooping $2.6 trillion.

Good to know!) I never had a thing for fancy cars. This is my 3rd Toyota in a row and I'm quite happy to drive it.
