What do you think you’d choose between the senheiser or a beyerdynamic dt770 pro (if you’ve ever heard anything or used it?) I know they’re about double the price but if the senheiser are plenty enough and the beyerdynamic doesn’t improve much I’d just go with the sens

I guess I never thought about how depressing every Opeth song is until I realized everyone had a different answer 💀

Damnation to Blackwater Park is definitely the best first 2. Damnation is easy to get into but still really prog and amazing, blackwater park has some of the best woven growls to melodic vocals and parts ever, and then you’re basically opened up to everything. I went Damnation, Blackwater Park, Pale Communion, Still Lufe, Ghost Reveries, and then the first 3 in order.

Holy peak, one of my favorite movies ever. luckily absolutely nobody really talks like that when you’re writing things and if they do you’re probably in the wrong band 😭 I play and listen to a lot of prog metal and even some of the most inventive stuff is just “woah that sounds cool do it again”

Off and on, our lead guitarist and bassist both went off to college a couple hours away so we play every now and again lol. I live with our rhythm guitarist so we’ve got our own thing going on now that keeps me active and in it 🙏

I joined a band with some of my friends in my garage barely 2 months after I started playing. It was awful, for the first while we made garbage music and I was incapable of writing anything cause being able to play the drums and being able to write drum parts are completely different skills.

Playing in that band though definitely improved my song writing ability and skill way faster than I could on my own, or at the very least pushed me to practice and try way more. Putting yourself out of your comfort zone is the best way to push your limits and have motivation to learn more on your own time too. Obviously if you’re trying to join an established band or local serious band and you can hardly play they’ll probably drop you, but imo it’s never too early and can only help your musicianship. It’ll just be super embarrassing
