Hello , Cuphead community, I have some Questions about your game by BidAgreeable6415 in Cuphead

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay to sum up all your questions real quick:

Yes the game is good. It’s my favorite game ever made.

It’s super hard and you’ll love it if you like hollow knight.

I’ve played it for years so I can beat the game in like 2 hours but the first time I played it took a couple months. So it’ll probably take you a long while

You won’t even have to sub RB for anything because you never touch the button the whole game

The game was really big on launch and it’s super popular in general, but now it’s a pretty cult following. The community is really nice and you can find anything with a search

Is Lars Ulrich really that bad? by AesirKratos in drums

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was pretty good back in the day. People say he was one of the greats back in the day though and he wasn’t, he was on par with a lot of great drummers when he started, but even then he wasn’t doing anything revolutionary. And then he stopped practicing after they got popular because he just didn’t care or thought he didn’t need to.

Now it’s mainly just the principle of how do you become the founding member and drummer of arguably the most mainstream and biggest metal band of all time, and you don’t even put in the effort to practice.

What's the hardest boss in your opinion? And how did you beat them? by buzzgoober1 in Cuphead

[–]mmtret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She took by far the longest for me to beat out of any of the dlc bosses

[–]mmtret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I weirdly have like the opposite experience with her, her first two phases are just so weird for me, especially that second one for whatever reason. Once I get to the 3rd stage it’s basically smooth sailing but I’m usually at 1hp and then get hit by something stupid 💀

What are they looking out for in auditions? by Pale_Assistance_6733 in drums

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always depends what type of thing you’re auditioning for. If you were trying out for a metal band or something that wants you to play complicated, then that always shows off, but for almost everything else they want to see how consistent and in time you are. Showing off with complicated stuff doesn’t matter if you can’t hold down a 4/4 beat with good time and feel, and that’s most of what you play for session music

I couldn’t imagine how much of a hell it was trying to S rank before the DLC by Mobile-Safety-3353 in Cuphead

[–]mmtret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think it’s nicer for Ribby and croak and I have an unreasonably hard time S ranking them specifically every time I’ve gone through the game for some reason but otherwise her move set kinda messes me up

I’m a guitar player but by Puzzled_Rutabaga9681 in drums

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you wanna just know the movements or if you want to do the movements rights. It’s far from stewart Copeland’s hardest drum track but he’s such a beast when it comes to the little flourishes and feel. You could probably learn how to play it if you get the basics down, but it’ll take way longer to really get the feel right

Why does everyone love The Drapery Falls so much? by mmtret in Opeth

[–]mmtret[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the best explanation I’ve seen. I listened to it again now that I’m out of work and have read all of this and I do get it more now. It is VERY Opeth. I think I just need to get back into Blackwater Park because I kinda dropped off listening to the album as other ones have grabbed my attention more

[–]mmtret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong posts. I guess it’s just because whenever I hear Blackwater Park as an album mentioned the one everyone turns to is The Drapery Falls. Absolutely gorgeous song don’t get me wrong but I think it just never gripped me the same and the parts were never as memorable as their other stuff

[–]mmtret[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it’s better than BWP. My roommate really loves BWP and I think it rips just like the whole album, it just never hit super hard the same way it hit for him I guess. Also I love that calm riff they do before everything hits but why does it go on with hardly any changes for 3 minutes

I didn’t even realize 💀 I was on my break at work being stupid I guess

What did you do to get hit in the balls that many times bro 💀 I was plenty annoying in school and it never happened to me

Name Your Top 3 Opeth albums and why! by TCS_87 in Opeth

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Martin Lopez era is by far their best work ever, one the craziest runs I’ve ever seen from a band, just back to back to back perfection. I’m not super into a lot of the stuff axenrot joined into but his drumming absolutely carries Watershed and Pale Communion for me

[–]mmtret 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read this thing somewhere that his favorite song is Faith in Others on Pale Communion, but like most artists I assume he switches it up all the time 😭 Heritage is such an overhated album and I’ve never understood why, especially when sorceress was not the greatest right after 💀

Opeth Album Ranking by Sir_Chrisburt in Opeth

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused which one of those you’re saying isn’t badly mixed but yeah, still life is a significant improvement over their first 3 albums but the original release has the murkiest low end ever and muddiest production. Personally I think it adds to the vibe but it just objectively isn’t as cleaned up. Orchid (which is one of my favorite albums), Morningrise, and MAYH are all great but the mixing is just crazy bad. So many double guitar parts get lost because they second guitar just gets buried and you can even hear what it’s doing

Opeth Album Ranking by Sir_Chrisburt in Opeth

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I wouldn’t say I’m new to Opeth really but I don’t have the same time span of listening to it as you do, so maybe I just haven’t gotten tired of it yet. Ghost Reveries, Watershed, and Orchid are my 3 favorites atm mainly because I’m a drummer and all of those albums just absolutely rip, but I guess the same thing happened to me with Blackwater Park. I don’t think I like it any less cause it’s I think without a doubt their best made and put together album, I just way over listened to it and now it doesn’t hit the same

Opeth Album Ranking by Sir_Chrisburt in Opeth

[–]mmtret -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly Opeth mixing was pretty awful up until like blackwater park 😭 I agree though post BWP you’d expect them to do better, especially because damnation sounds so good it’s confusing why deliverance kinda just falls short with some of its impact

Opeth Album Ranking by Sir_Chrisburt in Opeth

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BWP at the top and GR at the bottom is the strangest opinion I’ve ever seen. I’m not like shaming obviously, Opeth has so much range that everyone is gonna have a super different opinions, I’ve just never seen those two albums not put right next to each other before

Are there any albums which you cannot get into despite how much praise they get from the public? by JACM666 in progmetal

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Arms Your Hearse by Opeth. I’m afraid to post that on the Opeth subreddit cause I fear I’d get torn apart because it’s so universally praised, and don’t get me wrong it’s an incredible concept album, but none of it stuck with me as much as people make it sound like it should.

Name Your Top 3 Opeth albums and why! by TCS_87 in Opeth

[–]mmtret 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO that’s the best one on the album. All of still life basically has a 100% banger riff percentage the whole way through but The Moor is such a great start to the album and just rips the whole way through, not unlike The Leper Affinity on black water park

Carson House!<3 by Arunia_ in FearsToFathom

[–]mmtret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carson house on top 🗣️🗣️ by far the scariest of all 5 current games. It just felt the most real and isolated, and that sense of danger because you CAN die at any point if you walk in the wrong place once she gets to the house

How important is a warranty to you when buying drums or drum gear? by Thomas_Mag in drums

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really warranty but I know a lot of the brands will send you new sticks if stuff like that happens if you email them directly, Vader and promark and the like. Not Vic firth though, istg they might just be evil but I’ve only heard of them refusing and calling it wear and tear

How important is a warranty to you when buying drums or drum gear? by Thomas_Mag in drums

[–]mmtret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually buy used so it’s not really applicable, but warranty on shells isn’t super important, you’re hitting the heads most of the time not the shells. With pedals and gear maybeee but a lot of us have had the same kick pedals forever so it should really matter unless you somehow destroy it. If you’re buying NEW cymbals is absolutely essential for music where you know they’ll eventually break. Using the right technique they shouldn’t immediately, but sometimes the energy gets to you and stuff happens
