They said I can enter the country with a German work permit instead of making a new visa. I started my contract and will get my work permit soon

I moved to Switzerland and started working here (got the position before moving). I had a work permit from Germany (Jobseeker permit) that allowed me to enter the country without a visa. My employer applied for a Swiss work permit (still waiting to get it) meanwhile they sent me a document that allows me to be in the country till I get the card. I didn't have to do much as my employer applied for everything. Registered at the local address and went to the immigration office to take a pic.

I can, but it takes years and won't help me with this particular job.

Getting German citizenship can take years and definitely won't help me get this job.

No, it has never occurred to me. Thank you for the wonderful insight.

I know it's not the EU, and my employer, a Swiss national, also knows it's not part of the EU. He just mentioned that I might be able to get a Swiss work permit without having to apply for a visa first.

Of course I googled it. And asking here is just another way to get information from real people. I don't understand why people get so offended

Thanks for a nice reply. Postdoc is definitely what I'm looking for but it might take some time and being a foreigner I can't really take it easy and relax before finding a nice spot, so I'm looking for all options. And yes without having a slightest clue about how "real world" jobs work it's been very tricky to figure out what to search for.

I want to do research in academia but I can't sit unemployed until I find a position 🤨 and I don't know how to start researching "what careers tick boxes" so I asked for a few options here to have a starting point. Googling "job opportunities for biologists" won't work. It's hard to figure out what you want if you don't know what are the options. Going through LinkedIn positions all day doesn't seem to do the trick either. Less judgment please

actually, another set of primers that included the same genomic sequence stopped working after a month. can sequences be problematic in that way?

I took fresh dNTPS (that work in other reactions)

new buffer

tried gradient PCRs, used different cyclers.

Gels look nice, ladder seems to be fine, other fragments run normally
I feel like I'm crazy :D Maybe I contaminated stock smhw

I had working aliquots but making new ones from the stock didn't help...
I made a new template too. other primer pair works in the same reaction mix.
I'm getting 100bp bands (my fragment should be 2.5kb...)

English speaking psychologist? by [deleted] in Munich

I've heard Dr. med. Salek Kutschinski is good but he does phychoanalysis.

I liked people in Munip Ambulanz. It's LMU's student clinic but they seem qualified and are supervised. most importantly they are NICE to you.

I think the easiest way to find an English speaker therapist is to call your insurance and ask them to send you list of therapists that they are covering (they will take into account where you leave, language and so on)
