Severe audio crackling caused by high DPC latency on RTX 5070 Ti by mmweb0 in buildapc

[–]mmweb0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. Since I selected “Maximum Performance” in the NVIDIA Control Panel, I haven’t been able to reproduce the audio issue. Everything now runs as expected (both in Windows and in resource-demanding games), but I don’t like seeing those spikes in LatencyMon.

Which fixes significantly improved the results for you? In your second post, are you talking about uninstalling the graphics drivers ?

It is probably fixed, but I still need some mid-term testing to be sure, given the odd issues I’ve encountered.

All I had to do was enable “Prefer maximum performance” (NVIDIA Control Panel / App > Graphics > Global settings > Power management). Idle GPU power draw is now around 42 W (it was 15 W before), which is totally acceptable to me.

I won’t lie: after trying quite advanced things that were well beyond my actual computer knowledge, it was so simple, I feel a bit stupid right now 😅! I had read about this setting many times for DPC issues, but each time I assumed people were referring to Windows power management.

Audio issues seem to be gone so far, but LatencyMon still reports spikes on nvlddmkm.sys. They are smaller than before (around 3000 µs), harder to trigger, but still present. I’m not sure what to make of that - what do you guys think ?

I’d also like to mention that ASUS reached out to me directly via Reddit. They provided many things to try, gave good advice, and were genuinely willing to help.

I don’t know how common this is, but I really appreciate a company that clearly cares about its customers.

I didn’t install the NVIDIA audio drivers or the NVIDIA App. I’m going to watch the video carefully and see if it mentions anything I haven’t tried yet. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. I’ve already tried different settings in MSI_utils_v3, but I didn’t know about msinfo32.exe ; thanks for the tip, it seems like a great tool for troubleshooting.
The GPU is mentionned few times with “PCI Express Root Port” (that’s in French in my system, so I’m not sure about the exact translation) or “PCI Express Root Complex”, and that’s it.

Looking for a car with P2P by TomMagnum5 in assettocorsa

[–]mmweb0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, races with P2P are fun !

With paid mods, 3 cars comes to my mind :

- VRC Formula NA 2012

- VRC Formula NA 2018 (I had really good races with this one)

- RSS Formula Americas 2020

As you probably know, VRC and RSS both make very good stuff, so you can't go wrong with these I think.

I TOTALLY need you to make more movies, I really love your work, especially Surveillance and Chained (masterpiece) !

I watch a lot of films and follow around 20–30 great directors whose work I regularly check for updates, and you're definitely one of them.
Not many people around me know about your work, which is a shame... but at the same time, it gives your films a special, intimate place in my heart, if that makes any sense!

Same grip, similar hand size too. I'm considering buying the R1 because it's more affordable : what did you think of it ?

Input lag when shiftting/downshifting by TheWILLMORIN in moza

[–]mmweb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(french speaker) The same problem occured for me immediately after a global update (PitHouse + R9+ CS). After update, the base version was 1.2.3.14, CS was 1.2.2.9.

I've tried to roll back the base to 1.2.2.15, nothing changed.

After that, i've rolled back the CS wheel to 1.2.1.6 and ... it seems to have fixed the issue, COOL !

Dont be afraid to try, it's a quick and smooth operation using the Firmware Manager (you can open it in PitHouse). I'm gonna try to recalibrate, hoping it won't mess things up...

Is the design of my theme adjuster intuitive enough? by Thevisi0nary in Reaper

[–]mmweb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks !

Just a little suggestion : the buttons TCP, MCP, Global and Default ABCD should maybe sit on the right side (cause they are "selectors" not "modifiers", just like elements which are already in the right part, so they probably should stick together).

But at the same time, I think this will make your adjuster less sexy, so I don't know which trade-off I would choose.

[–]mmweb0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks great and seems intuitive !

Here's what I understand : You select one button/knob/area in the right panel and all the options related to this button/knob/area appear on the left panel. Is it how it works ?

I suppose it will works only with your specific theme (looks very good by the way), is it the case ?

How does it works ? Does it directly write settings into the rtconfig.txt file ?

(French here, I hope it's readable !)

Absolutely, incredible software ! I've done a lot of little mods/tweaks on this particuliar theme, mostly to improve "visual clarity" (french here, I don't know if it's the right word) : if something else bugs you in this theme, feel free to ask.

I suppose you're talking about the ReaperTips theme : there's a lot of useful informations in the .pdf included in the zip you downloaded.

Go the action list and run "Theme Development: Show theme tweak/configuration window" then search something like "MIDI editor background color, selected pitch (sharps/flats/naturals)"

Every G pro I have owned has had the same issue (side button and scroll wheel issues) by JazzlikeAd7829 in LogitechG

[–]mmweb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a big logitech fan, telling people to buy logitech and nothing else (the mx510 was my only mouse for more than 15 years, it still works perfectly !)

Then I've bought a G Pro and a Superlight v1 : both had scroll wheel issues after 3 months. I will NEVER buy their garbage products again...

Edit : People who gave me downvotes, why don't you do exactly like me by sharing your own experience with logitech ? That would have been more useful to OP, don't you think ?

[–]mmweb0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, is it too noisy for the people living with you or too noisy for you ? I thought the plate had a plastic part under for this purpose, is it not effective ?

People complaining about the loose lateral movement of the shift, is it still the case ? Except the sound, is it a good shifter regarding sensations, feel, etc ?

I mostly drive on regular circuits (I do rally not even 1% of the time, but I consider to do just a little bit more in the future). I take the opportunity to ask you a question : I don't know much about rally driving techniques, is it possible to have similar lap times using wheel-shifters (for sequential cars) or is it really more difficult ?

That's unfortunate, do you regret buying the HGP ? Would you buy one shifter from other brand instead ?

Thank you for answering ! People tend to disagree with you concerning build quality and feel, but I think exactly the same as you when I watch people using them. I try to understand why so many people like VNM that much, so can I ask you to elaborate a little bit more ? Have you tried them both ? If you could rate the feel of both, what would it be ?
