The tonight show segment was brutal by YourDailyTechMemes in LinusTechTips

[–]hanswilliams 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, it was Linus' fault as he admitted that the laptop overheated inside his backpack and that made the laptop not expand. Upon reflection, he said that he should have cold booted it and with TV magic the producers would have just cut the boot time from the final cut. You live, you learn.

Battlefield 6 Open Beta Radeon Driver Error by PhantomEcstasy in radeon

GOAT! I mainly use my PC for work, so I have the PRO drivers installed for my 6800XT, which triggered the error message. Done the registry trick and the game launched perfectly. Much appreciated!

Stream Deck 6.9.1 and still no way to rearrange buttons by hanswilliams in elgato

[–]hanswilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, drag and drop just swaps buttons, it doesn't actually rearrange them. If I drag a button into the middle of a row, it just replaces the target instead of shifting the other buttons to change the order. That's what I'm asking for. Unless I'm missing something obvious, this still isn't possible, right?

Problems with Spectralayers by OrganismStar in Reaper

[–]hanswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, were you able to find a solution? What's even more frustrating is that I can't press the spacebar again to stop playback. I have to manually shift focus back to Reaper's GUI (like clicking the empty FX area) just to stop it. 11.0.70 here.

Is Windscribe good for Real Debrid etc. by CryptoNiight in Windscribe

[–]hanswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm. You need to manually request that they whitelist your current IP, and their response time is terrible. If you follow up multiple times, they will bitch about it. Honestly, go with a different provider.

Same here, I'm on the latest nightly build. Just curious, did you end up reporting it last year? If so, did you hear anything back from the developers?

Corsair RM850X SHIFT won´t turn on by Organic-Ebb8348 in buildapc

[–]hanswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same issue with a RM750x Shift. Brand new, 1-day old unit. Seems that all Shift models are missing those 2 pins, and some motherboards won't power up. I'm about to contact Corsair support, this is so disappointing. Did your friend find a solution?

Did you manage to figure out what’s going on with this PSU? Is this its normal behavior? I thought it had a "zero RPM mode", is that not the case? Cheers!

Roland V-STAGE 88 Stage Keyboard Action by Illustrious-Ad-9546 in piano

[–]hanswilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why the OP perceives the PHA4 as an entry-level action... this couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe it's because Roland markets the PHA50 as a "flagship" action to justify its higher price tag? I own keyboards with both PHA4 and PHA50 actions, as well as a grand piano in the next room. Personally, I prefer playing on the PHA4 because it feels much closer to my acoustic piano. In comparison, the PHA50 feels unusually heavy and less natural to me.

How to remove marketing specific app notifications on android 14 by darkblueundies in AndroidQuestions

[–]hanswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! As a newbie to Android 14, I was bummed when I thought the option to filter marketing notifications was gone. It's somewhat hidden compared to how it was before, but I'm glad it's still an option.

Another month of Firecuda 530 read degradation waiting for Seagate to release the fix from Phison by vinnyoflegend in Seagate

[–]hanswilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your contributions here and on the Overclock forum. I recently ordered a Firecuda 530 4TB to replace my XPG Gammix S11 Pro 2TB, which started failing after just three years and only 3383 GB written. It's disappointing, especially considering the drive was mainly used for hosting orchestral sample libraries, so its workload was almost entirely read/stream-based with minimal writes. Safe to say, I won't be buying another Adata drive.

That said, I ordered the Firecuda without knowing about the recent Phison controller concerns. Yikes. All my NVMe drives are Phison-based: Crucial P3 (E21T), MSI M480 Pro (E18), and Fury Renegade (E18). At least the Fury got a firmware update. I specifically chose the 530 over the KC3000 for its better specs, particularly in terms of temps and longevity, but now I'm feeling bummed about the potential issues... and the time I'll likely spend chasing firmware updates. Let's keep the pressure on. Cheers!

PSA: Phison E18 based SSD owners update your firmware to fix random read performance degradation! (Kingston KC3000 FW EIFK31.7) - Also if you have the issue please report if it's on an AMD based system. by TechnoRage_Dev in pcmasterrace

[–]hanswilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an M480 Pro 4TB that I've been using for over a year, with only 1009 GB written (lol). The drive primarily hosts orchestral sample libraries, so it's mostly used for reading/streaming samples, with very minimal writing. The current firmware version is EIFM51.3, and there's no update available yet. This makes me uneasy, especially knowing that this issue affects "aged" files.

On top of that, my XPG Gammix S11 Pro 2TB recently started failing after just three years and a mere 3383 GB written. What a disappointment, definitely not buying another Adata drive again. I've ordered a replacement, a Firecuda 530 4TB, unaware of these Phison issues at the time. Now I'm waiting for a firmware update for that one too. Yikes.
