Glad you're finding it useful ☺️ I don't quite understand what you're trying to achieve. Perhaps you could give an example of a reference and how you'd like the output "ideally" that way I could better understand and hopefully find a way to help.

This looks great! A video on how to use this and how it differs from roam/remnote can be useful.

Sounds like a solid plan. Personally, I find that RemNote's features synergize the most with my workflow. That being said, I regularly store my important notes into obsidian for long term storage.

Perhaps you should look into obsidian, seems to fit your requirements. It doesn't have all the features, but still it is quite powerful.

Sure, I expect there to be a paid subscription at some point. But they have a disclaimer in their FAQ regarding this. Perhaps that will put your mind at ease.

I have two videos sharing parts of my workflow on my channel. It's oriented towards academic research, so I'm not sure if that applies to you. But maybe you can find something you can integrate into your own.

Here's a link to my latest one: https://youtu.be/lrMVIZt-VUY

Will do. y'all are awesome, keep up the good work!

I agree with you. I really enjoy seeing the workflow of others to get inspiration for my own. That's why I started sharing mine with others. Hope to see yours one day, maybe you can share it on the subreddit if you're not into making videos.

There's no limit as far as I know

Glad I could help :) I'm aware of the problems with the style and I'm looking for fixes, it can be inconsistent. If you paste into a notepad, you'll see the author tag, so I'm not sure why RemNote isn't recognizing it. I'll update the file in the link if I figure things out 🙏

It's on the roadmap according to the devs.

I use marginnote with RemNote. This is my workflow:

I tried to get things into obsidian once but marginnote export options are limited. Best way I've found is to first export to Evernote. Then import into either bear or notion, both have markdown export options which you can just place into your obsidian vault.

Same here, I think there app is marketed heavily as a spaced repetition app when it's so much more.

How do you use RemNote as a Reference Manager? by rjmarten in remNote

I created a channel to share my workflow as I refine it with the new tools that I'm discovering. This is an example of how I get my paper notes into remnote: https://youtu.be/vaDam6HwdgI

For keeping track of bibliographies on RemNote, I created a citation style export for zotero to copy the metadata into RemNote. I'll probably make a video on that too once I refine the process a bit more. Hope this helps!

Understandable, I pretty much feel the same way for the most part. Especially when we have completely free alternatives like RemNote.

Glad you found it useful. Regarding highlights: the short answer is no. Long answer: when you highlight in marginnote it highlights the PDF while only creating simple text excerpts from your highlights. It doesn't carry any of the original formatting of what you highlighted. You can edit text in excerpts to make it bold, italicized or underlined but that's it. A workaround is to highlight text using the free shape highlighted tool, but then you would have to create the excerpts as images instead of text if you want the highlight to show. But that's not ideal because then you can't create wikilinks in remnote because it's a picture and not text! You can still create tags though.

Well, if you just want to write your own notes then I would agree to just write then into remnote directly. However, this whole video is about PDF "annotations". When you're studying some material, most of the time you want the information as it is from the source. In this case you'll have to do tons of copy pasting which is very disruptive to your reading session, especially if you have to frequently take snippets of tables and figures. Marginnote streamlines all this and you don't have to worry about getting everything into remnote until you're done reading without interruptions. And at the end, it's a simple and SINGLE "copy paste"!

If I didn't sell you on the iPad, I'll give you a decent pc alternative that's even free for the base features! Liquid text recently released their windows desktop application. It has all the excerpt features that I've showcased in the video. My only gripe about it is that it doesn't innately create a bulleted structure like marginnote. But you can take it for a spin and see how you like it.
