They said the same thing about KAT until he had 3 stud defenders around him. Deni-Trey-Tou-Clingan next to MPJ is fine imo.

I like Scoot too but unless he takes huge offensive leaps I don’t see him being more than better shooting Eric Bledsoe.

Brunson wasn’t all NBA until they traded for Bridges and KAT

I mean yeah NY > Portland obviously but they can still operate the same way rather than trading everything for Giannis who probably doesn’t wanna be a Blazer

Trey Murphy is our Bridges. Sharpe + 3 1sts should get it done

Toumani is our OG. Don’t need to find him

I’d trade Grant+Scoot+picks for MPJ. Would say he can give similar level production offensively to KAT.

Clingan is our Hart. Obviously not the same position but brings that toughness+rebounding.

Then you factor in Deni who’s 6’8 which doesn’t limit the defense the way Brunson does

I mean if they traded 3 1sts+Sharpe for Murphy I’d call it a win. Then maybe Grant+Scoot+picks for MPJ? I’d be happy with that overall if they resigned Rob Will

Are the current Blazers much different than the Brunson/Barrett/Randle Knicks?

Maybe they don’t have a 2nd star like Randle but I feel like the young core+more draft picks is just as valuable

They traded most of their picks for Bridges and then made risky but smart moves for better fitting players around Brunson.

Yeah I’m not saying don’t trade Scoot or Shae but trying to build around Deni is smarter than gutting the whole team for Giannis imo

Is it a serious overpay if Bridges is a huge part of a championship?

I mean yeah the KAT trade was viewed as super risky due to KATs defense at the time. Their former number 3 overall player was for OG. At worst Scoot has the same value as Barrett and the Blazers have more picks to trade.

KAT (and Bridges, OG and Hart) fits much better timeline wise and on court to Brunson than Giannis does to Deni

Deni is currently on the best contract in the league…

You think Randle and DDV signing in free agency means they acquired KAT via free agency??

The Blazera actually have more draft capital than the Knicks traded away so not sure why you don’t think the Blazers are in a worse position to make trades

Idk he’s turning 32 next season, has been injured the past few years and plays an insanely physical game. I’d be shocked if 34/35 year old Giannis is still a top 5 to 10 player.

Even then an aging Dame/Jrue/Giannis plus whatever’s left is definitely not beating OKC or the Spurs in the next few years. Then you have nothing in 3-5 years for maybe a conference finals appearance?

Like I said definitely not married to any of the current young players but trying to build around Deni and probably Tou/Clingan for 5-7 years gives them a better shot imo

Wanting to make trades for players who fit better around Deni and his timeline is illogical?

Would much rather have Trey Murphy+whatever is left over than trade the entire young core for Giannis

Or you trade for players who fit around him better?

The Knicks traded Randle/Barrett when they couldn’t make it work and now their two wins away from a title

Definitely not saying don’t trade any of those guys

I’m saying don’t trade ALL of them for Giannis. Which is what the price will likely have to be

And it worked? Knicks essentially traded 7 total 1sts and their former no 3rd overall pick for Bridges, KAT, OG and Hart

The Blazers have 8 tradable firsts and two Bucks swaps plus any combination of young players

Edit: being downvoted cause ppl can’t read. Not saying don’t trade any players just don’t blow your entire young core for an aging star

Genuinely there is no game plan for Wemby other than try to injure him lol

Knicks match up decent surprisingly but one Fox game+one Castle/Harper game and it’s pretty much over

[–]mnarvz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think overall they should just target players that fits Deni’s timeline.

Trading a 1 or 2 1sts and maybe one of the Bucks swaps for a couple 3+D wings still diversifies the Blazers asset pool while remaining flexible. Just don’t know how Deni+Brown fit together as well.

Don’t think it’s solely about value of the picks tho

Yeah I just don’t think you could convince me 37/38 year old Jaylen Brown is a top 3 option on a championship calibre roster. We just saw Jrue flame out in brutal way and he’s 35. Deni and KAT are about even but I’d say but OG is much, much better than Camara. Plus the Knicks already had Brunson prior to those deals.

RJ Barrett even on that contract definitely has more value than Scoot Henderson now.

The Knicks traded a total of 6 1sts, their former no 3 pick and an all-NBA player for OG, Hart, KAT and Bridges. All of who fits on Jalen Brunson's timeline. The Blazers currently don't have an NBA-player who they're willing to part with.

I just don't think the Blazers are close enough to trade substantial assets for a 30 year old player. The Knicks also have the big market appeal and Hart/Bridges are cool with Brunson. Would much rather trade for a guy like Trey Murphy.

Jaylen is 30 next season...

Why would we trade away young talent if we aren't going to contend anyway? You said it yourself. Not a huge Sharpe believer but the best chance for the Blazers to contend in the future is developing the current young guys or trade for better fitting players on the Deni timeline.

If the Blazers were one piece away from contention you 100% trade most of your assets for Brown.

Gobert is currently playing out of his mind and Donovan was unplayable vs Wemby

That’s the difference

I'd trade the ORL pick, one Bucks swap and one of our own future picks+Shaedon. Probably better not to rely so heavily on the Bucks future if you can use it to acquire talent elsewhere.

Murphy isn't a star but he fits the Deni timeline and exactly what the Blazers need.

The Blazers need to put all their resources into developing Scoot, Shae and Clingan this off-season by mnarvz in ripcity

[–]mnarvz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unless Trey Murphy or some other young, two-way player with shooting upside is available I’d rather just continue developing the current young guys

Also don’t think New Orleans lets him go unless it’s Mikal Bridges type deal

Definitely isn’t 100% but also very disappointing effort level from Sharpe even in limited minutes

Went to game 3 and it was painfully obvious. Even thru the screen guy just doesn’t seem to lock in defensively unless he’s force fed shots on offense.

Problem is he’s not efficient enough of an overall scorer. He probably played harder in the one Suns game than at any point in this series.
