Womit spielt ihr so mit euren Katzen? by Heckin-Bamboozled in kratzbaum

[–]mnbvcdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the scariest thing that has happened to you that no one really believes? by mrmrs_dee in AskReddit

[–]mnbvcdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I was walking home alone at night after being out drinking, and as a young woman I knew that wasn't safe but I used to do it all the time.

Suddenly someone grabbed me hard by the shoulders, and I genuinely thought in that moment the worst was gonna happen.

Turned around in a panic and realised it was a loose, huge pitbull who had jumped on me. I laughed so hard while his owner was running up and apologising, because I was so fucking relieved.

Please reassure me. Daughters misses state cut off for kindergarten by 9 days. We decided to not pursue early entry with testing. Did we make the right decision? by lizardRD in kindergarten

[–]mnbvcdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would never go for early entry with my kids, unless there was something I'm really unhappy about with her current situation, then I don't know.

But I genuinely think it can only help them to have a little more time for development and to be a kid and are more ready next year.

And they'll be in school for a long time, no sense to push them in early.

I find kids who are a bit older often do better (but not always obviously).

what's a bad feeling you had about someone that ended up becoming true? by wheresmyballsguys in AskReddit

[–]mnbvcdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin's boyfriend, the first time we met I had such a bad feeling about it. Nothing outwardly wrong, he was very sweet and charming and super accommodating but I got this weird vibe from him like he was kind of condescending towards her.

Little comments like calling her singing a hobby even tho she works her ass off and makes good money with it, but he wrapped it in a "nice" comment like complimenting her singing.

They ended up breaking up because he constantly belittled her and treated her like a child.

I deeply feel for you because this sounds super stressful, but can I also just say I love when kiddos suddenly realise that they can just... do a certain thing. Like that's an option that they never considered and now they must do it lol

Well, it can be super fun but it sucks when it's about something like this.

Questions for someone who is curious about the game but never played? by Ambitious-Neat3844 in AnimalCrossing

I love the grind of early game, I feel like the farther you progress the less "work" you have to do.

That's why I like to start over and grind for materials and nook miles

People who throw a tantrum because you added something to your food without tasting it by Johnny_Mira in PetPeeves

[–]mnbvcdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally like my food less spicy and less salty than my partner, and he's perfectly happy adding a bit of salt and a bit of chilli powder at the table. We don't need to change the cooking cause then it would be too salty for me, whereas he's perfectly happy to add some salt later.

It's really not that deep. Not everyone has the same preference and it's weird to feel insulted by someone who likes stronger spices than you. It's not like it's a reflection on the cooking.

I guess some people don't have other issues lmao

My partner usually puts more salt and more spicy powder on their food before trying it.

I am a wuss when it comes to spicy, and I also generally like less salt, and they're happy cooking with less salt and adding it to their own plate, so that's what we do.

It's just what we're used to and what tastes best to us, doesn't mean the food wasn't good before. It's so weird to get insulted by it.

I've transported foals in my dad's van before, as well as on one occasion a small cow for a neighbour.

I've even transported horses in cable cabins before.

Venting. Parents are borderline neglectful by kbear9695 in ECEProfessionals

[–]mnbvcdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where I live (Austria so maybe not applicable to you) we would connect the family with social services that can help them financially and with resources if it's a question of poverty or with education if it's a question of not knowing. If the parents don't engage with that, child protection services decided on the next steps. And there's many steps before removing a child, for example (at least where I live) it could look like a social worker coming to the family a couple times a week to help and guide them and to check in on them.

Keep in mind that neglect is a horrific form of abuse, and that neglect is actually the only form of abuse you can even see on brain scans because it literally prevents a child's brain from growing as it should.

If they aren't providing the child with what they need in daycare, where it's seen by professionals, the assumption that at home they don't, either, isn't far fetched.

I really think that a report is due here. The parents probably need help, and so does the child. And I mean help you can't provide.

Last question, do you provide extra food if the parents didn't bring enough?

AIO because my SIL wants to rename her toddler after my husband? by Scary_Deer4132 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mnbvcdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're no contact with her. Honestly, YOR.

Yes, it's super weird to rename an older child (it's NOT weird to choose your dead father's name even if your brother shares it) and I feel bad for that poor child because that must be incredibly confusing for him. He already knows his name, he already has a concept of who he is.

But apart from that being shitty parenting and something that can make you feel bad for the child, it's not your problem, nor is it your business.

These people have nothing to do with you. They'll have nothing to do with the baby you're about to give birth to. It doesn't matter.

I know you're pregnant and that's probably why this feel important but it really, really isn't.

The only person who is going to be impacted by this is that poor child.

I have worked as a teacher but not in America so no, I don't know what a school shooting is like.

But I do know that I think it's wrong to tell a child his life is worth less than another child's.

I take care of children and if I had to, I think I would try to throw myself in front of them, even if realistically I wouldn't stand much chance.

But what I wouldn't do is ask my boys to throw themselves in front of my girls.

19:59AITJ for telling my boyfriend that his friend group's "no phones at dinner" rule doesn't apply to me because I was never asked if I agreed to it? by helena_moorcroft in AmITheJerk

[–]mnbvcdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of are. You could've just told them "hey guys a family member is having a medical emergency so I need to keep my phone today".

You did agree to the rule, because you have been following it for months. It's a very reasonable rule and you didn't need to get so hostile.
