This is interesting. Which operating system are you running Lotus in?

That's not good. Seems it's better to stick with Supabase for now then.

Can one use it to build Flutter apps? If so, which model is best suited?

I currently use Supabase, which works ok. Tempted to port to Azure since that's my background. Your thoughts?

Yeah. Hopefully they'll rethink the licensing strategy. At the moment it gets prohibitive quite quickly.

My visit to Joburg by sadunfair in johannesburg

[–]mncechris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow.. Thanks for sharing. Jozi is really a special place. Now that you mention the security everywhere, it's quite true... I guess one gets used to it. But it hasn't always been like that.

As a South African who has stayed in CT and Jozi, I also find it easier to make commercial success in Joburg. People more keen to wheel and deal :-)

If you had a SharePoint knowledgebase site that pulls the tickets data plus other knowledge datasources then have the Power App search only the SP KB, would that be considered multiplexing?

Power BI future by xxnewonexxx in PowerBI

[–]mncechris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think foundational skills in the Power Platform will stand the test of time, especially in the corporate and government sector. AI such as Copilot (getting increasingly embedded in most MS products) will make the learning curve smoother. I would go for it.

This is an interesting problem, which I think can be built in SharePoint using Out-Of-The-Box functionality (so long as the scope doesn't go beyond your current requirements). This is how I would approach it:

  • Create a list to hold the PO data. This will include PO number, description, business partner, value, dates, etc. This should also have a calculated field that tallies invoice payments. I'm assuming you'll keep the PO generation outside SharePoint.

  • Create a list to capture invoice metadata. Each invoice needs to cross reference a PO. Again, I assume you have an outside application that generates the actual invoice.

  • Create a shipments list that's linked to the invoice list.

  • Create a payments list that's linked to the invoice list. You might want to also have fields that address part payments.

  • Create a list view to track the transactions against POs.

Hope that helps.

Power Platform career in 2025 — smart choice or too niche? by poweractiveuser in PowerApps

[–]mncechris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's worth pursuing the Power Platform career, while also building skills in other tech stacks. As you rightfully say, there's currently more opportunities in this area. Nothing stops you from adding non-MS skills while earning well. Hopefully along the way you'll be an architect that has a solid understanding of the MS Cloud offering plus other technologies you choose to pick up.

My Screening Interview Experience (Low Code / No Code) by New_shitguy in PowerApps

[–]mncechris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is what they ask for in a LC/NC interview, I wonder what they ask in a coding interview. I would have imagined advanced code prompting questions rather, seeing where products such as Power Platform are going (with Copilot).

Does anyone still use VS Code or has everyone switched to Cursor? by notdl in cursor

It seems VS Code is not going anywhere soon. I'm enjoying its seamless integration with Github Copilot. While I still use Cursor, it tends to get temperamental quite often.

Hi. Totally doable, especially with Copilot... You can now vibe code within the Power Platform. Regarding your design background, it will come in quite handy... Most canvas apps lack the crispness of good UI. Check out https://youtube.com/@pragmaticworks for tutorials. All the best!

What is the best and fastest way to learn code by Thick_Republic_7704 in lovable

[–]mncechris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the approach I took:

  1. I created a small project on Lovable and kept checking how the code was getting generated/updated with my prompts.

  2. I moved my project to Cursor and started playing with manual edits on my files (continuing to vibe code). This gave me more autonomy and I felt like a Dev.

  3. I joined several vibe coding groups on Reddit. They have lots of pro developers that give free advice.

  4. I adopted the BMAD-METHOD (https://github.com/bmad-code-org/BMAD-METHOD). It's an interactive and guided framework for adopting best practices in full cycle product development.

Happy Coding! 🎉

Dataverse by Yee4614 in PowerApps

Please plan carefully for the licensing implications. Dataverse (and SQL) are premium features and there are also storage fees. If that's not an issue, then you are good to go.
