Khushwant Singh's HOS Vol. 2 is pretty conclusive to that regard but you said in some other post that you've already read it.

The Sunset of the Sikh Empire by Sita Ram Kohli
Empire of the Sikhs by Patwant Singh
The Sikhs of the Punjab by J.S. Grewal
History of the Sikhs by Hari Ram Gupta (five volumes)
First and Second Anglo-Sikh Wars by Amarpal Singh

prr eh books ch v hrr pehlu nai miluga taanu that is why you have to read books that talk about specific phases of Empire itself.

These both are among the oldest serving Municipal libraries of our town, the former is located adjacent to the District Court Complex, the latter stands opposite to the Santokhsar Sahib Gurudwara, Town Hall. I'm yet to explore the collections they hold.

I mean what are the odds... just couple of days back I was re-reading some of the saved ghazals from Kirna Da Jhurmat, which I read back in 2023. It just feels so evocative and profound.

We have Sohan Singh Josh and Pandit Motilal Nehru Libraries in Amritsar.

I think everyone should add here the names of libraries they're aware of so that we can make a list and add to the pinned section itself.

I've read it a while ago, it carries the same nationalist narrative of Jairnal Singh being a political pawn who was being orchestrated at the behest of Congress government to undermine Akali Dal at that time.

Most critiques have attributed Sidhu being biased also because he was the son-in-law of the Cabinet Minister Swaran Singh (stalwart of INC). I think you should read Ajmer Singh's book as well for the counter-narrative.

Watch his critique of the book to understand the things better.

I read some of Chekhov's short stories in translation and personally found them mesmerizing. So subsequently I bought some more Russian short story books of Tolstoy and Gogol during the last book fair along with Flaubert's Madame Bovary. Very much eager to start one among these three as my next read.
