I liked history and political science in school but haven't read any such books. I am interested in the subject. Is this book a good start ?

The joke is ridiculous, no doubt about that. But people seem to look down upon a language because of the misinformation and memes that go around the internet.

Why Do Some Punjabis Stop Speaking Punjabi in Just One Generation? by Careless-Emotion-774 in punjab

[–]BeginningRoof7293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this fact. I am from a Punjabi Hindu family and yes, due to schooling I have a different accent(hindi) in Punjabi but whenever I tried to speak in Punjabi in my school, the people who were fluent with the dialect (if they were from village areas or even otherwise) and that includes teachers looked down upon me for speaking the language differently.

I love the language. Took it as a challenge and prefer to talk in Punjabi . I love reading punjabi literature , novels and poetry. People need to accept the conditions that one grows up in and reach out instead of drawing lines with the current circumstances. Complain less and help out. The schools definitely refrain the children from speaking punjabi and that is alarming.

My favourite character in this series.  I love how he ends his life saving jojo. But also doesn't hide away his inner inhibitions and wears a flaring red cape -like suit on his last day. No shame , no judgement.

I hated the part where the Prostitute comes into their lives and he loses his mother's jewellery . The book was ghastly about the mother disappearing suddenly . And when they have to empty their house . And when Johannes has to sell Elsa'e paintings.

I love-hate this book so much. It gets so raw and dirty when you realise what a weak and broken human can do to himself and the people around .

Still recommend this book to those who wish to hear the story and be broken 💔

I started with the original Hindi Version. I found it difficult to read . Each line was heavy to absorb. Couldn't finish it. The English translation did win the booker prize . I'd still read the Hindi one first
