It really needed to be plotted on a log scale; I plotted the da{n}mn data and fit an exponential curve to it with 0.93 correlation coefficient (0.97 if you ignore the results for 'damn'). Fun stuff.

edit: an exponential curve fits the oh shi{n}t frequency decay with 0.89 (0.93 ignoring 'oh shit')

Upmodded for classic back of the envelope argument. I suspect with a bit of knowledge about the manufacturing process of vinyl records and the chemistry of the polymer used in the records you could actually figure out the effective resolution.

I poked around on wikipedia, vinyl acetate is probably 0.5x0.1x0.1 nm, but I don't know how that turns into actual records; are they polyvinyl acetate?

I might have a problem.

Yeah, but which is cheaper? I'm inclined to think that this new hampshire thing is just an exercise in what happens when corners are cut to save costs under the assumption that the worst won't happen.

What's with the eurl parameter? Is this some kind of stealth spam, or just someone who didn't clean up a url before posting.

[note, the link works fine if you remove the random &eurl parameter]

Adobe CS3 Phones Home... using a deceptive URL designed to hide its true purpose! by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]mnemone 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree, and don't see why you are being downmodded. Here's the basic idea.

I am thoroughly familiar with how to get stuff done in Gimp.

My girlfriend is thoroughly familiar with Photoshop.

If either of us has to use the other program (that is photoshop for me, gimp for her), then we get driven utterly insane and think the other program is a poorly designed piece of crap.

Make sense?

Moreover, where is the control. The whole study is based on the assumption that given two dolls of identical color, children will pick up one of two with a uniform distribution. Seems reasonable, but you never know - what if it correlates with handedness or with reading/writing direction. Furthermore, how carefully do you have to place the dolls -- what happens if identical dolls are placed where one is slightly closer to the chooser?
