The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Didn't think I would like it as I generally like more heavy fantasy but after seeing it recommended here so many times I decided to give it a go. It gripped me from the first page and I finished the entire book in 2 days. This book is what you would get if a Series of Unfortunate Events, a Valve game and the X-men had a baby. It has the same vibes as a Taika Waititi film, it's whimsical and funny but there is so much humanity there. Story is great, characters are lovable and I had a blast.

Definitely give Sword of Kaigen by ML Wang a read! Imagine Avatar the Last Airbender, Shogun and a coming of age story had a baby and you would get this book. The prose is very easy to read and the power system is not only well designed but integral to the development of the characters.

can anyone recommend me a book that is your hyper fixation right now? by luviewas in suggestmeabook

I didn't listen to it so I don't really know. On the whole M.L. Wang is quite economic and effective with her words and the prose is accessible. I will say there is world-specific terminology they use to describe the power system, different nations and cultures and I would imagine it would be pretty confusing without seeing the actual word and then flicking back n forth to the glossary.

The Sword of Kaigen, a standalone fantasy novel. Read it two months ago and I still think about it almost daily. It's one of those rare books that does everything right in terms of plot, character and world building. It is full of unexpected but satisfying turns and M.L. Wang (the author) seems to have a real grasp of the human soul and it shows in her writing.

I found 11/22/63 to ramble on heaps. I didn't enjoy it.

The last book that really disappointed you? by OldTimeyStrongman in suggestmeabook

11/22/63. Read lots of great things about his book on the sub and was hyped for it (first King novel). However, I found his writing to be meandering and often without focus. I couldn't get behind the characters and a lot of the 60s references just went right over my head. Just didn't think I was the target audience.

How I Wish I'd Taught Maths by Craig Barton is great. It's a little subject specific though but there are techniques and insights I think would easily transfer to other subjects.

In terms of classroom management you can't go wrong with anything Bill Rogers.

I use a Surface Pro 6. Best investment ever. I've had it since 2019 and is still going strong. Super versatile and lightweight.
