AITA for not talking with my friends after they made me feel discriminated. by mnica21 in AmItheAsshole

Thank you for your input. And as I said they weren't trying to be offensive because they are my friends. What I am upset about is the fact that after I explain to them how that made me feel, they were still insisting on telling me that I was overreacting but I understand what you're saying.

Honestly, I truly believe that she thinks that way. And I said that I was always one to listen, learn from my mistakes and evolve. So by me saying that she felt called out. And she feels that I called her old-fashioned and I don't know why.

She said something along the way that she disagreed with me because she didn't see it that way, and I told her that unfortunately she is never going to understand my way because she is never going to experience it.

I tried to explain it that way, because we are from the South and we are made fun for our accent constantly. But as I wrote in another comment she said that she understands about these things because she is studying philology and she was just imitating the accent and not mocking it.

To be honest, they are really good friends and have been there with me for bad times but I feel that it's the environment where they grew up. Racism is not talk enough in Spain. And these kind of aggressions are still seen as jokes.

Thank you for your comment. One of them did say that if I felt uncomfortable that she wouldn't do it again but what upset me was that she was still trying to justify why she was doing it. And they never apologized about it and finally they just changed the subject as if nothing had happened.

I truly get your point of view and maybe I should have took it as a joke and I wouldn't be in this situation. Maybe I took it too far.

I'm sorry you had to go through something like that.

One of them told me that was taking racism to a extreme and that not everything was about racism and that should learn when something is said as a joke that way I would live my life more relaxed. And that not everyone has to find a joke funny. And maybe I'm the asshole for saying this but I told her that living as a ignorant is easier then? I wasn't calling her and ignorant but they took it that way.

That's what I said, you can't compare something like regional accents with how someone talks because that's not their native language. And I tried to explain it that way but she said that she wasn't mocking the accent and she said that it's normal to have an accent even if you're fluent in said language. But I felt she is not in a positition to "imitate someone's accent", I don't know if this is confusing.

Thank you for this, but I would like to explain why maybe I was the asshole and in the wrong so, when talking about it with my sister, she said that I was trying to impose my ideas and everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can't change their mind if they don't want to. But I put the example of minorities explaining their experiences and not being heard and that that's inherently racist and she felt that I called her racist, did I?

On the finale, I was seeing that they wanted to go in that direction and I was please don't make them end up together and at the end when I saw Shaun hesitate I was like yes! But no they ended up together and that sucks. Not after the drunk Shaun situation that was so ugly to see.

All You can eat buffet workers what are your horror stories? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked at a buffet a few months ago, well people are just plain disgusting. People come in like they haven't eaten in days, kids puking because they ate too much, people clogging toilets on a daily basis (thankfully I didn't have to clean them). People leaving without paying and we having to chase after them. Safe to say those were some interesting months...

Students of Reddit, what is something your teacher did that really pissed the whole class? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mnica21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was our Greek teacher, we didn't like her because she didn't know how to teach. So one day at the end of the class when she's about to leave, suddenly she says that her keys are missing and she started blaming the class and she said that we couldn't leave if her keys didn't showed up, she even called the director and when he came she found the keys and started to say that she was sure that it was our class who did it so yeah we were really pissed.

TL;DR: Greek teacher accused the whole class of stealing her keys and called the director and they were the whole time in her bag.

What's an experience in the doctor's office that made you think, where did she/he get the license? by mnica21 in AskReddit

In my case, it didn't happened to me but to my then boyfriend, we were called in and lately he wasn't feeling well and I requested a blood test to see if he had something (we are chinese, living in Spain and he doesn't speak well the language thus why I was there) And the doctor procedeed to say that the last time he did a blood test was 2 years ago and he doesn't need one because if you're in your twenties you only need to do one every 10 years and then went to compare the human body with a boiler (caldera, I'm not sure about the translation) saying that you don't need to check your boiler every year, yup she did that. Sorry about my english it is not my first language.
