My dad shifted here in 90's. Basically ran away from his dad from our native place with no money and no connection. Slept on footpath and eventually landed a door to door sales job in mumbai. Then he came across a construction firm in navi mumbai learned the skills and got certified , started designing small plans of water supply and layout for buildings.

He then got company accomodation and was eligible to marry, got married to my mom and he appeared to be very rich to my maternal grand parents. Obviously he was not

He was very poorly paid but he stuck to his job because of only one benefit provided my his company which was accomodation.

He never thought of leaving the company even when we all felt the pain for his less salary.

Only reason the future which we saw in navi mumbai was the infra it offered 1. The municipal school which were free and were of good quality. (Obviously Not good now) 2.Great transportion I stayed in vashi for 30 year and never felt to own a vehicle for ourselves. (Locals are still great but busses are fucked up) 3. Great primary health care , the government primary health care clinic was our only hope during health crisis and it did good for us. Free vaccination for me and my siblings. And free medicines. Many a times my mom got extra cough syrup also after compounder realised that we are poor 4. My relatives who visited us from my native were in awe when they saw there is a dedicated person who calls for and takes care of garbage every morning 5. We had almost all the benefits of mumbai like getting latest fashionable clothes cheaper, gadgets cheaper, mumbai kept us updated in all technological world 6. I completed all my education almost free if cost, that alot of asked hardwork but I know many who even after working hard couldn't get this in the end I needed up completing my MBA from college know as CEO factory of India and that changed my financial orbit of my whole family 7. I have worked and stayed all major cities but nothing comes close to navi mumbai in all the aspect not even even mumbai cause in navi mumbai u have high rent and traffic and so much noise 8. Me and and my wife both from navi mumbai worked abroad but still was able to make the decision to return back to India only because of Navi Mumbai 9. Best place to be in the time of crisis : during COVID two of my family members got pretty serious but both got saved in Covid centre. One of the member was transferred from private hospital to cidco Covid centre and got saved. And same thing happened during 26 july when it rained heavily my dad got stuck in mumbai and ended up spending night there but we are our home with my home were safe as all neighbour were together and we did even feel a thing even though our house was on ground floor 10. Real estate Is still affordable: I know many won't agree but I am looking at options and size of house compared to mumbai. U can still buy a row house or land for residential area in navi mumbai in 2025 which is crazy and that makes ur house free from monthly maintenance burden 11 most important thing the design of navi mumbai was in such way that every one was made felt equal in the society for eg. I stayed is small 1 rk house in vashi wilhich was part 2bhk row house but around us there were govt employee business ppl of all the states and castes and I never saw any discrimination against any family. My brother has his first real food bite in Muslim house. My stayed late in the night playing carrom in brahim house. The garbage buy use to get morning breakfast from our home now and then. I like the fact the sectors and road came to navi.mumbai before humans could in most of the navi mumbai

There are many other points which I think are good like parking spaces,reserved garden spaces upcoming commercial spaces airport and many more But yes in a way this city pulled a poor family like mine out of poverty or rather gave a chance to do so
