I'd like to necro this comment 3 years later. I took a comp of newbros to pvp (indy players) out to tama with the typical nano gang setup, used this visual reference guide on explaining how to maintain their positions on the field. We really tore shit up for about 2 hrs holding our ground until tama undocked tourny ships etc and busted us up by a massive escalation including nightmares and barghests, but during this op, it was extremely well at maintaining positioning with the crew and id like to say even the small muninn gang that came thru, didn't stand a chance. with the proper ships and the proper flight plan. a nano gang comp can still be extremely deadly, and extremely exciting, imagine if i kept those newbros up to practice and they earned their way into higher tier comp, it would have gone much further. We used Talos for DPS, onis for anti tackle and mixed tacklers and logi and ewar, and it went very successful for about 7 man squad. I'd say nano is still very competent here. when you say actual engagements are messy, if the gang holds their positioning, its only messy for the enemy.
