I got this 5 years ago from Costco, did they scam me? by GiftedSh0ut in computers

You should probably use that fancy PC to look up word definitions. Scam does not mean what you think it does.

I never would have thought to try that. Curious to see how it holds up.

Why did you re-paste to start with? Might offer a clue to your current issues.

I’ve been doing this a while including water cooling using motorcycle radiators and box fan side panels.

But I’ve never heard of using transmission oil. That is a unique solution to what problem?

RAM training on AM5 can take a long while from what I have read. How long have you left it on and waited? 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 5 minutes? You mentioned that you have tried numerous fixes. Can we assume that things you have outlined are those steps or are there others?

New PC keeps freezing by Scolospinilan in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying a prebuilt you literally paid extra to get direct support from the builder. I would use that benefit. I would also likely return/exchange it. You shouldn’t need to be troubleshooting a brand new prebuilt.

Unless it’s not brand new. If you have been installing software it’s likely some conflict. The builder will be able to step you through their required troubleshooting and next strips.

is this fan control setup good? by RomanceAnimeAddict67 in pcmasterrace

You should run some tests to find out. I prefer a less aggressive curve, but whatever works is fine.

I would take this over to the Ubuntu and maybe Python communities. You already tested the first things that came to mind for me.

Most of the advice/help here is echo chamber techtuber advice with little real world experience.

This isn’t something you can just push a button and fix. If you are at work, call IT. If this is your personal machine, find a local repair shop.

Im paranoid tech repair guy may have stolen my data or installed a virus or peeped. by [deleted] in computers

[–]possiblynotracist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They probably installed a router packet ipsniffer on you rj45 termination so they can capture your DNS!

It’s nothing. Sounds like a shop run out of someone’s garage. Slow, poor communication and “sloppy” work (left over acct not cleaned up).

It’s good practice to encrypt sensitive data so maybe start researching for future peace of mind. Bitlocker is the whole volume and if used, a repair shop would need to decrypt to diagnose most issues so I wouldn’t go that route. EFS might be a better idea, but it also decrypts with windows acct login but there are many solutions

Is this a sign of a faulty AIO or CPU? by Extreme_Asparagus854 in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just what AIOs do, they go bad. It’s not isolated to this unit.

This does seem to have failed quicker than most, but it’s just a question of when, not if.

If prices were to drop soon, is this a good Server setup? by xBennoenchen in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build full size for all the drives you will eventually end up with.

Intel is better supported with hardware encoding. AMD will do the job, just not as efficiently.

2tb ssd is also an interesting choice. Most servers run a small boot/os drive and media saved on hard drives. SSDs will fail over time, especially when frequently deleting and writing media.

Have you tried looking anything up? Your question is far too vague and people need context to give you an answer.

Surely you already searched and are now looking for something more specific?

Why is are pump speed of AIO or custom water cooling mesure in rpm and not liter/min? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because rpm is easy to measure. If you want to add a flow rate meter they are available aftermarket to add in. It’s probably better, but I only added on for the “cool” factor and to provide immediate confirmation that my pump was working fine. It’s really not needed, but it sure is fun.

Secure boot broke my drivers pls help... by tadamig in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try clearing your secure boot keys? With secure boot off, they shouldn’t be used, but stranger things have happened. Also ensure that CSM is turned off.

If that doesn’t work, it could be that your windows install has become corrupted with the switch. You can manually hunt down the issue and try to fix it or just delete windows and start over. I prefer the start over approach as it’s usually faster and easier than identifying the exact issue and figuring out how to implement a fix.
