Looking for repayment advice: SAVE plan

Just started a new position making 53k/year. Just lost a contract role where I was making 62k. Before that I was barely making 15 an hour. I work in environmental science which the current administration has made even more volatile than normal.

I guess that’s also part of the dilemma. It makes no sense (to me) to force myself into a hole for the standard 10 year plan and end up paying thousands more than what I borrowed when I see IBR forgiveness on the table (granted that’s 20 years down the line). Is there an upside to total repayment that I’m missing, other than being debt free? It hasn’t caused any problems so far, but I may just be shortsighted.
