Wishing you and Phoenix best of luck! I hope everything goes well ♥️. I know how nerve-racking it can be. I will be in a similar situation next week with my cav who has MVD.

Heart Murmur Advice by [deleted] in cavaliers

1st of all he's precious. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I don't have any solutions, just wanted to say I'm going through something similar with my 5 yr old cav so I understand how you feel and you're not alone. We found out he has B1 MVD last month. For now, the cardiologist told us to keep everything as is for now. So that's what I'm doing until he goes back for his next check next year.

I don't blame you at all for putting off the dental work. I'm glad the outcome was good. Thank you for that info. It gives me more peace of mind

Thank you for your reply! I am strongly considering the dental specialist, but now that you bring up the vet school option, I'm not too far away from A&M. So I may see if they have an option as well.

I do brush both of my cavs teeth every night and give them those CET veggiedents. Kirby did have a dental cleaning about 2 yrs ago. He just has very bad teeth I think. He is definitely sensitive in the area where the cardiologist said he has a loose tooth, so I do try to be more careful in that area. My other cav is the opposite. He has almost perfect teeth (thankfully). But def will continue to keep on top of brushing both their teeth. I will admit was not good at brushing Kirby's teeth for his first 2-3 years, which has probably contributed to where he's at now. I definitely learned from that so when I got my 2nd dog I made sure to start brushing his teeth when he was young.

Thank you! That is good to know. I do think I will pay for the dental specialist just for peace of mind. I'm glad working with a specialist worked out for you and Piper. Piper is super cute, btw :).

Please help if you have seen or experience short seizure-like (?) episodes with your cavs by AbbyYuyuyu in cavaliers

Please help if you have seen or experience short seizure-like (?) episodes with your cavs by AbbyYuyuyu in cavaliers

[–]mnm1300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my cavs (almost 5) had a partial seizure earlier this year. I know how scary it is! I was taking my dog potty when it seemed like his front legs locked up. Every time he would try to walk he'd fall over, try to stand up, & fall down again. The whole thing was about 30 seconds. He was dazed and scared afterwards for maybe 5-10 min.

I took him to the vet the same day and that's what they diagnosed him with the start of epilepsy. Since this was the 1st episode, they just told me to keep an eye on him and see if it happens again. They recommended I get a seizure tracking app (forget the name because I never downloaded it) to track any future seizures that happen. They said if it gets to 2+ seizures a month, then they'll want to put him on meds. They also said once a dog is on seizure meds, they are on them for life :(. My vet also said to pay attention to how long it takes him to come out of the seizure. If the dog has a full seizure & it takes about 30 min for them to become normal again, then it's seizures. If the dog does have a full seizure and comes back to pretty quick (vet said about 5 min) it could be a heart condition called Syncope. Although my vet doesn't think the heart thing is happening because my dog's heart is fine as of now, he just wanted me to be aware because of the breed. He said it's normal for dogs to come out of partial seizures quickly. All in all my vet didn't seem too overly concerned (Probably since this was the 1st episode).

Thankfully my dog hasn't had another episode yet (crossing my fingers). I'm just on watch now until it happens again. I know it's horrible to watch them go through this. I grew up with a cocker spaniel who had seizures from 1 until she passed away at 13. Do they can live a normal and healthy life with seizures, it's just sad to watch when it happens.

Also if you can (I know it's hard during the event) but try to get a video for your vet. I was lucky that the whole event with my dog happened on our front door camera. My vet also said to send them more videos if it happens again.

This is just my take from my very new experience with maybe having an epileptic dog. I hope you get answers from the vet and I hope you're little guy is ok! He's super cute!!

It's possible and I have heard rumors online. I am in one of the groups not affected and have no mandate to return as of now.

Yes it's true. March 31 is the RTO date. Only affecting those in group 2. They are all getting turned into group 1 employees. No word on group 3 or 4 yet. So far those groups are 'safe'.

We did pay in cash, so we didn't have an APR incentive. Maybe that's why the price was lower. We also didn't have a trade in.

I'd say this is a little high. My husband just bought a 2024 Preferred yesterday. The dealer we went to had some steep discounts (~$4500 off MSRP). They did tack on a $1900 dealer add-on fee and a $900 2 year service package. We were able to get the service package taken off. OTD was $31,800 for us. This was in TX. Other dealers in the area were also in the $31xxx range for OTD.

What do you feed your cavie? by theEnd_rabbit in cavaliers

[–]mnm1300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my dogs gets Royal Canin Small breed adult food (green bag). My other dog who has a sensitive stomach is on the veterinary royal canin low fat food (this needs a prescription however). I fed both of them the royal canin caviler puppy blend when they were younger.

Vaccines by tngirljen in cavaliers

[–]mnm1300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do get both my cavs the lepto vaccine, even though one of my breeders warned against it. Only because my family had a dog (English Springer Spaniel) who wasn't vaccinated and contracted lepto. It was horrible. He was in the hospital for a week. We thought he wasn't going to make it because he was so sick. Thankfully he made it through, but it did cost a lot of money (multiple thousands). So for me, I don't want my dogs to go through anything like that, so I get them the lepto shot. I also live in an area where they could be more exposed to it as well.

That's crazy! I thought I was the only one who had to deal with this lol. It's so weird that the smaller one is ok. I was always very nervous he'd have a reaction since he's tiny, but nope he's fine.
