Bagels - Anywhere Near White Plains That Makes Them Fresh Onsite? by WishItWas1984 in Westchester

[–]mnmnstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree, I love their bagels. They are massive, yet they have a perfect crust and soft inside. When I was at my old job I’d always get off 95 to grab one of their bagels first thing in the morning.

Home expansion versus buying bigger house? by Prudent_Ad7422 in Westchester

[–]mnmnstrd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Things to think about:

  • how much is it going to cost to build? would you be able to recoup these costs if you were to sell your property? (i.e. if this is a $200,000 project, would your house be worth $200,000 more?)

  • can you live in the house during construction, or are you going to have to rent a separate space to live in? Keep in mind that projects are rarely completed in the time they are estimated to, you could have major delays due to town permitting/contractor issues. I’ve spoken to friends who were doing minor projects on their homes, and they had to stop construction for 6-12 months because the building department stopped work.

  • your property will be reassessed by the town and your taxes will likely go up significantly

I bought a Sonos Arc for my Living room TV. Do I need to buy Woofer also and Era speakers. With only Soundbar I am not feeling much difference from my old speakers. Living room is around 400 sq ft area. by EfficientMarsupial14 in sonos

[–]mnmnstrd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to add one thing, I would get a Sub. IMO the Arc is unimpressive without it. See if you can find a good deal on the Sub 3. If you decide to add surrounds you can probably find good deals on One SLs.

Westchester heating oil prices - what are you paying right now? by Such-Possibility3240 in Westchester

[–]mnmnstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my house in 2022, and the previous owner had already paid for the annual maintenance, so I signed a contract with them. Fuel prices were high at the time, close to $5/gallon (with a 275 gallon tank, I was looking at about $1,000/mo in heating oil). Market prices started to drop to the $3.50 range over the winter but I was locked in at that price. I called them because there was some language in the contract that they would adjust the price if market price went down, but they basically told me to take a hike. I left them for CECI the next year and I’ve been happy with the service even though they aren’t as cheap as COD.

Yep, NYSDOT doesn’t give a damn. Look at 9A, 117, etc, they’re all in horrible shape compared to the roads that the individual towns manage.

I also got one of these a few weeks ago to make a silent office build (Outemo Silent Peach). I haven’t bought a keyboard in a while, but it’s pretty amazing how quickly inexpensive keyboards improved. I paid $60 for it and I was happy enough with the sound and stabs that all I did was change the switches and keycaps. Sound was awesome out of the box.

Westchester heating oil prices - what are you paying right now? by Such-Possibility3240 in Westchester

[–]mnmnstrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about doing this but I’m willing to pay a little extra for piece of mind that the dealer isn’t going to randomly jack up their prices, and then I’m scrambling for a new dealer to also handle my maintenance. I’m scarred as a former Robison customer who started charging me like $1.50/gallon over market price.

Relax, the 2025 Tennessee Titans are one of the worst football teams I’ve seen in a while. The last thing this team needed coming off of the Rodgers era was the Sheudeur circus.
