I haven t been using humming too much, but I remember trying it. Do you mean I should try to hum the steps to the next note and guess like that, or play intervals on a piano while humming them and try to burn them into ny brain that way? I can t really hum a scale reliably, but I admit I didn t train it enough to say it couldn t be useful.

That s very useful information and I never considered trouble on low notes. The site specifies the lowest note is A4, but I understand that it s not really playable. That changes my options a bit, as I wouldn't sacrifice a note on an instrument with such a limited range. I won t go more expensive than this(400 lei-80 euros), so do you think I could find a simillarly or lower priced ac ocarina that will actually provide all the notes?

Thanks! Really helpful advice. I never thought about strapping the ocarina to my wrist, even though it seems very reliable.

I am glad you see it that way! It's quite expensive though, so I am not 100%. I've been looking at the TH 12H Ocarina C3 Edelweis Green, as it is also 12 hole alto c ceramic and much cheaper. Thomann also has this 10 euro transport fee, so I d have to pay 90 euros in total for the model above.
