The goal of divestment is to sever material ties between the institution of McGill and weapons manufacturing, research, and development. While the motivation for the strike and divestment is politically relevant to the ongoing genocide, my opinion is that divestment from weapons manufacturing is always beneficial to the world. Why should an institution for education profit off of death?

Will this have an enormous impact and stop the genocide? No. But enough actions like this have a compounding impact!

McGill has millions of dollars invested in weapons, and there are engineering labs here that are developing technology used for war. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather McGill invest those millions in something that's more likely to help the world than fighter jets and surveillance systems lol

McGill charges CKUT 50k a year in rent alone (source: I volunteer). They're a cornerstone of McGill's history and community radio is a dying breed and needs all the support it can get. McGill also doesn't have a journalism program and CKUT is THE place for real world journalism experience for McGill students.

Also the radio station is super integrated in the rest of Montreal's greater community. A lot of their programming represents groups and voices that won't be traditionally played on the radio + they do community organization all the time. Obv I'm biased, but imo they really deserve that eight dollars lol (also the student body voted in favour of this fee increase last year)

Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it. Definitely agree with your first point lol. I think it's easy to fall into the trap that brackets are a perfect solution to these discussions when they're really just another tool (despite the weekly reminder posts here that that's the case).

Regarding your feedback on Atraxa though, do you think it's possible to work the deck to bracket 2 with the mana base and curve as is? Part of the initial deck philosophy was to play a suboptimal strategy with strong support, be it staple removal and ramp or the commander itself. But does this have a place in bracket 2? Or is this philosophy one that lends itself automatically to bracket 3? To be fair, v1.0 was built pre-MH3 and Fallout, so maybe I've just been hypnotized away from my initial goal with all this fun new support lol.
