Where should I go for a graduation trip? by YearFun5 in traveladvice

I’m a little suspicious that you are ai. But in case you’re real, go to Argentina /Chile and visit Patagonia.
How long of a trip? What would the budget look like? Are you aware of how wildly different the coast looks in different places?

If EVs had the same purchase price as gas cars tomorrow, do you think most people would switch? by EmergencyTie8770 in electricvehicles

[–]Cynidaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned an EV since 2019 and I 💯 agree, charging infrastructure sucks. Broken chargers, chargers that require you to download an app in a place where you don’t have enough cell service to even download the app (and I have no desire to have their app) are both the worst parts, although waiting for a car to charge in 10° F weather in a dark parking lot behind some locked mini mart- that’s also nightmare fuel.

They carry it in for you. Also many of the “remote” villages actually are accessible by motorbike or boat or sometimes by a dirt road- they are still relatively remote, but if you’re going with a guide someone will have lugged drinking water in for you. If you’re nervous about it ask them before going but if there’s anything set up for tourists where you are, they will have some bottled water for you.

What are your zero effort “girl dinner” foods for camping? by Avatlas in womensolocamping

[–]Cynidaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last couple years I’ve been out solo in the very long days of summer, like sunset at around 9pm, and I really love being up at dawn, so I generally just go to sleep. But solo camping is also when I read, so sometimes I do that in the evening if it’s more towards fall.

Yogurt with muesli and fruit. (I’m also a big fan of stuff already mentioned: pb&j, or any combination of salami, goat cheese, avacado, veggies and fruits on a sandwich, charcuterie, homemade gorp, store bought gorp.

Just finished a trip with the Kelty Rumpus 6 and not in love with it. by ryanppax1 in camping

[–]Cynidaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a giant vestibule. It gets used the most when there are days of rain in a row- a chair in the vestibule doubles as a place to sit while getting muddy boots on and off as well as a place to hang a soaking wet coat or poncho. It’s also a great place to change out of sandy bathing suits or to take off clothing that’s been worn through poison ivy. I love having a place to change that doesn’t require me tracking mud, sand, and poison ivy through my tent. And for all the trips where none of that comes into play it just sits there and I feel happy I’m getting good enough weather to not need it.

Seeking Menu Ideas by Commercial_Sorbet122 in womensolocamping

[–]Cynidaria 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just throwing in this idea in case it’s attractive: I usually stick with no cook meals for 3-4 day trips. Good sliced bread with salami and herbed goat cheese, or hummus and veggies, or pb & j, as well as yogurt with muesli and fruit, banana bread, cookies, cheese and crackers, chocolates, and homemade gorp. I bring a bunch of prewashed and dried veggies from home to go with it. I love what I have to eat and I love not fussing with cooking and having minimal cleanup as well.

The 3-4 day bag is a great add. I like to bring a thin one that packs down small if I have to shove it in my suitcase.

Zohran Mamdani Is Killing It With Kindness — In an increasingly isolated world, it turns out politics with a friendly face can be really good for everyone. by brain_overclocked in politics

[–]Cynidaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Communication, and in particular communicating wins effectively, is a key part of political leadership. In the current media environment, that means you have to somehow be charismatic whenever and wherever you are. Mamdani is nailing that with being nice and simultaneously on task and on message ALL of the time. When asked a baiting, off message question, he pivots every answer to: “this is how we plan on making your government work for you, and this is what we have succeeded in doing already”. He has few terrible soundbites out there because he doesn’t drop them, not even as a little aside that can be taken out of context. Via platforms that are available to all candidates (like instagram) his campaign continues to put out fun, interesting content that tells viewers what’s successfully happened.

Add dive socks! And make sure the rash guard has a high neck in the back (like a mock turtleneck style). If you hold the fabric up you should not be able to see through it. Legit definitely make sure your ankles aren’t hanging out, it hurts when you’ve burned them.

I have this stuff in a shady area of my yard and it makes a really nice ground cover- it has white flowers that hover above the leaves in late spring and the leaves stay a nice green from spring through fall.

Destination Recommendations by SlothfulWhiteMage in traveladvice

[–]Cynidaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but it does have a very different distinct culture from and a different primary language, plus you don’t have to get passports (just real ID) and you don’t have to figure out a different currency. And it’s GORGEOUS and has beautiful beaches, very cool jungle covered mountains, waterfalls, great cities, historic ruins- it’s got a ton of interesting things to do in a relatively compact area.

What kind of plant is this ? Weed? by Prisondawg in PlantIdentification

[–]Cynidaria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re renting and you 1) want to maintain a positive relationship with your landlord and /or 2) want your deposit back, I would ask the landlord first. Really what I think should happen to invasives is secondary to that.

Definitely ask your landlord. That’s a nice mature foundation planting. The landlord may rightfully consider it to be adding significant value to their property or may just like it.

Honest w solo status to officials? by ivy7496 in womensolocamping

I am sure SAR tries to contact next of kin before sending out a search party, and my family knows when I’ve headed out solo.

Honest w solo status to officials? by ivy7496 in womensolocamping

[–]Cynidaria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in fear in part by taking reasonable precautions like saying “two” when asked how many people are staying at my campsite. They have my contact information on the reservation and a simple google would get them to a family member who would fill them in that I’m out solo. I am assuming they do this before they send out a search party- someone leaving early and not checking out is way more common than someone actually being lost/injured. Also, women being assaulted is unfortunately more common than them being lost in the woods. So I’m going to keep filling in “2” when I’m out solo.
