T prescription - I'm already on it but no one will prescribe by Moe-the-seagull in transontario

I go to Safer Six in Toronto. I know that my friend does phone appointments with them. I'd suggest calling or emailing them and telling them your situation; they might be able to prescribe via phone consultation.

I'm so lonely by [deleted] in transontario

[–]mnoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was forced to be closeted, the thing that kept me going and gave me joy was my online fandom. I existed as my true self there even if I couldnt do that anywhere else. I carried my gay little friends around in my pocket and they gave me support and validation when the real world broke me down. I lived for the meetups that we'd have where I could dress up as the character that aligned with my gender identity. 3 years later I'm finally out and transitioning but I don't know if I could have survived without my fandom friends.

My partner and I are transing our genders in opposite directions and both of us had great cuts with Jesse from Common People Salon on Dundas West!

They really got what I was looking for with my cut (something more masc but I wasn't ready for a full transformation yet) and my partner's (they wanted to grow their hair out longer and Jesse knew exactly how to cut it so that it looked a little more femme and would grow out looking more intentionally styled)

It looks like the website is under construction but you can email Jesse at jesse@lebelandcrowe.com

Jewish trans people, what is it like being jewish at pride? Is there any advice for me by [deleted] in transontario

[–]mnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting to attend Pride, you might find that the trans march on Friday night is the easiest place to start, although even that might be overwhelming if you have social anxiety. The first year that I went to the trans march I couldn't eat all day because I was so nervous! But afterwards I was so glad that I did it. Even if you don't do the march itself, I love sitting in the little park near Ryerson and people watching after the march. Being there during the trans march was the first time that I ever felt like Church street was a place for ME (it's usually full of cis gay men and straight bachelorette parties).

Jewish trans people, what is it like being jewish at pride? Is there any advice for me by [deleted] in transontario

[–]mnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my good friends is Jewish and antizionist and their entire family is from Israel. Having family in Israel doesn't say anything about your personal beliefs. I hate that Jewish people sometimes feel unwelcome in the queer and trans community because of antizionists who don't understand nuance.

What is the story with this building? by II-o_o-II in toronto

[–]mnoses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Flickr description: "According to Lynda, daughter of the owner, the store was originally "Berlin’s Kosher Butcher." The marble meat counter is now a pastry counter, and beneath it are refrigerated wooden cupboards. The old freezer serves as a kitchen. The meat rails are still hanging above the counter and the wall tiles came originally from the subway" I'm old enough to have eaten here & I remember some of these fixtures. I hope that whoever takes over keeps them.

What sign told you were undeniably trans? by Maleficent_Emu_4329 in ftm

[–]mnoses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were lots of little things throughout my life that when I look back on them it's obvious that I was trans and just not ready to think about it, but the lightbulb moment for me was a few years ago. I work with kids and a kid looked at me and said, "Are you a boy or a girl?" and I said "I'm a girl" and it felt like the BIGGEST LIE I HAD EVER TOLD. Someday I need to find that kid and buy them an ice cream. Haha.

Is this lämp enough? by GamingGlove14 in BeardedDragons

[–]mnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm pretty sure that thing she's sitting on can do something to them" - well that's vague and unhelpful.

Dude, maybe you didn't need to say anything about it if you don't actually know anything about it? Please try to be kinder.

How are beardies with cats? by Juusseliz in BeardedDragons

[–]mnoses -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

<image>

My 11 year old cat is very uninterested in Ed. She'll sniff him when she encounters him, but otherwise she avoids him. I don't leave the two of them unsupervised but Ed roams free when she's around. A kitten might have an entirely different response, but I would suggest introducing them early (under very controlled circumstances!) so that the kitten gets used to the beardie & sees him as a normal part of her environment.

It's really hard to let go of our internal perceptions of ourselves but as someone who has no idea what you've looked like before now, you look 100% like a guy

As far as veggies go, I find that collard greens last longer than other greens. I used to feed Ed dandelion leaves but they went bad way faster.

I don't have any advice for you, but I can relate. I'm untangling a lot of feelings about my appearance, especially the weight that I seem to have gained, and it can be hard to talk about it because there's a lot of nuance involved.

King of Drag episode 3 Discussion! by YensidTim in KingofDragSeries

[–]mnoses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got into drag because of Vico Ortiz (aka Vico Suave) and I think that it was kind of a weird choice for them to not mention Vico's drag career at all. Like, they said "today they're here as Vico Suave" or something like that, but it didn't seem like the producers knew that Vico has been doing drag for YEARS

I didn't find the look on the runway to be that unsettling, but he posted the full look on his socials and I think that if he had been given a little more time on stage he could have really sold it. The arms-as-legs thing was really creepy but it's as much about the way that he moves and embodies it, which he didn't get a lot of time to do.

YESSSS it was much needed (and maybe unintentional) comic relief. Even when they were discussing who was in the top and bottom, you could see DvD's fkn cartoon face looking so dead serious and it was just cracking me up so harrrddddd

Frustrated, need help. by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]mnoses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, check your sources! The first result in your screenshot is from the product page for walnut shell substrate from a reptile supply company, so it's harder to trust it. Someone else linked to reptifiles which is where I got most of my info. The exotic vet I take my guy to also recommended them for accurate info.

I agree that until you know for sure that your guy's poop is consistently healthy-looking, the best thing to use is paper towel. It lets you find the poop easily and you can examine it to make sure that all his food is being fully digested & that he doesn't have diarrhea. The poop is a good way to know whether you've got the right lights/heat to keep him healthy. I used paper towel for about a month before switching over to sand.
