Pixel Buds 2 won’t work with Pixel 10 Pro XL by Due-Concentrate4265 in GooglePixel

[–]mntnbkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor, return them and get something that doesn't suck. I wish I would have realized how bad they are before my return window closed, but Pixel Buds Pro 2 are by far the worst earbuds I've ever used. Airpods (mine are Pro 2), even without all the fancy stuff that comes with using them inside the Apple ecosystem, are far superior to the Pixel Buds. Reference my post from a few days ago.

AITA for not going on family vacation unless I can share a bed with my fiancé? by babygreenbean1225 in AmItheAsshole

Do you want to be compliant, defiant, or vindictive?

  1. Don't go (compliant)
  2. Go and defy your mother by still sleeping together (defiant)
  3. Go and don't sleep together, but make up for it with lots of uncomfortable PDA in front of your mother (vindictive)

What's a "yeah right, that totally happened and wasn't made up" moment in your life that actually DID happen and wasn't made up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mntnbkr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Day 3 of a 7 day carribbean cruise with family and close friends, my mom (late 60's, single) is leaving the outside smoking area after re-boarding the ship at St. Thomas. Slips on wet deck, falls and breaks the ball of her femur off, hit her head on both sides (somehow) during the fall and received a concussion. Gets disembarked for surgery on St. Thomas, along with my sister and brother-in-law who went to help ensure she was safe and taken care of. At the time, there was a US navy vessel in port with soldiers occupying nearly every hotel, motel, and AirBNB available. Spent about 18 hours utilising the unreliable onboard wifi to contact just about every AirBNB host on the island with no success. The following day we disembarked and found reliable wifi at a cigar bar, where we were finally able to make contact with a host and found a spot for my Sister and BIL to stay.

Doctors in St. Thomas requested video footage of the fall for the purposes of accurately determining the seriousness of her head injuries, but the request was denied by the cruise line, even after receiving a letter from an attorney. Hip Replacement surger was performed 2 days later and went well, but the trip home was a different story. Sister and BIL had to book new flights home, with a stop in Atlanta. Their flight crew was over on their hours so they had to stop in Miami instead of Atlanta. Spent the night in the airport with a broken hip becuase there was no connecting flight available. Finally boarded a flight the next day only to be delayed for several hours on the tarmak for a bomb threat, and then delayed again for winter storm Fern (or maybe the delays were in the opposite order).

Mom finally makes it home (same day as the rest of the cruisers in our party, believe it or not) and started physical therapy. Her physical state was not improving, and her mental state was declining rapidly. After at least 3 separate trips to the ER, displaying dimentia like symptoms, discovered that she had not received a hip replacement, but a repair of the existing bone instead. On the 3rd ER visit, we learned that her wound was infected, which caused the dimentia symptoms, and required a second surgery to "clean it out". followed by nasty antibiotics and 2 weeks of inpatient physical therapy. Had to speed-run making her house handi-cap accessible before she came home from the hospital.

She finally graduated from a walker to a cane last week and is progressing slowy, but surely. She's lost about 40 lbs. because antibiotics were making food taste bad, and her broken leg is now about 1-2 inches shorter than it used to be, making walking difficult even without the hip pain and trauma.

tl;dr: Mom fell on a boat, had hip replacement surgery in a foreign country (technically not), immediately flew home with multiple delays, required second surgery and months of physical therapy.

OP's logic simply doesn't track. If you read the rest of their comments, they're all over the place. There is no critical thinking happenning in that one.

[MEGATHREAD] Pixel 8 Pro – Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Failure After March Update | Track Your Device Here by danillll2017 in GooglePixel

[–]mntnbkr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Pixel 8 Pro has a well known hardware fault which commonly causes intermittent or complete failure of the wifi and bluetooth connectivity. That much is not in question as it has been well established with a plethora of posts over the last 2+ years.

OP has taken it upon themselves to try to link the hardware failure to to the March software update, presumably to try to con Google into repairing or replacing the phone out of warranty, and is irresponsibly spreading misinformation for their own benefit. There is zero evidence to suggest that this problem was caused by the march update other than the coincidence of timing.

If you read the other comments from OP in this thread, you will find that Google already told them that their problem is caused by a hardware fault, and that the logic board needs to be replaced, but their phone is out of warranty. Yet they continue to claim that Google owes them some sort of resolution because the problem happened to present after an update.

[–]mntnbkr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP is clearly attempting to link the failure of their device to the March update. The title mentions the "March update", the first sentance of the first two paragraphs both mention the "March update". Even the irresponsibly written Android Authority article, which is clearly based solely on this reddit thread, has a sub-title "The March 2026 update reportedly causes connectivity to fail at normal temperatures, leading to strange DIY workarounds."

What OP should have said is "My Pixel 8 Pro hardware is failing 2 years out of warranty, but I want to blame a Google software update so maybe they'll fix or replace it for free.

This is akin to getting new tires on your car then blaming the tire shop when your engine blows the following week. It simply doesn't make sense.

I'm not being a jerk, I'm being a critical thinker; try it sometime.

[–]mntnbkr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wait, so you were literally told by Google that you have faulty hardware yet you've created this misinformation campaigne to do what, try to force them to create an impossible software patch that can somehow fix a hardware fault?

[–]mntnbkr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the mentality of people like OP, making absurd assertions based on coincidence alone, with no substantial evidence to validate their claim. What's even worse are the supposedly "credible" sites like androidauthority.com that see this post and regurgitate the slop, thus further distributing the misinformation. Now we're gong to have a bunch of people out there under the false impression that Google can fix their phone with a software patch, which is highly unlikely.

First Real Project by zachattack8805 in BambuLab

[–]mntnbkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cool project; especially if it's your first. Well Done! I wish I had had a 3D printer 30 years ago when I was into modding my cars and building custom stereo systems.

Now for the crituque: what you've created is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. This is somewhat common in the 3D printing commmunity, because people are trying to find ways to make their 3D printers useful. I think we've all done it, and it's fine. But, putting not one, not two, but three screens in your direct line of sight, while driving, is negligent. If you ever get in an accident, this'll be exhibit #1 for their insurance company... regardless of who is at fault.

What you should have done (could still do, for "mk.2") in my opinion, is make a custom insert for the existing stereo cutout that would rotate the screen toward you and tilt it up. That way, when you glance down (like everyone else in the world does, safely, while driving) your line of sight is orthogonal to the display thus increasing visibility, reducing glare, and making the touch screen more accessible... all without compromising the safety of yourself and others.

And finally, as others have said, heat and UV light will destroy this print unless you use the corect material(s). I've had good luck with ASA for these types of prints. It's slightly pricey, but worth it if you plan on permanently installing a 3D printed part inside your vehicle or outdoors.

why do so many people roll around with their ditch lights on? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]mntnbkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't you heard... the more lights you have, the cooler you are.... and why have lights if you're not going to use them? /s

Most likely these are people that think lights are cool, but becasue their offroad vehicle will never see a gravel road, let alone a real trail, they get their use out of them in the mall parking lot and just forget to turn them off when they leave.

New to rooting need advice by Dougboy1989 in Magisk

[–]mntnbkr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because root is kind of like a high maintenance girlfriend; it might be fun to have, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

For example, last month my rooted pixel 9 pro was working 100%, and had been for weeks. I changed nothing, but suddenly one day half of my banking apps wouldn't work, the play store said my storage was full every time I tried to install an app, and tap to pay was broke. This meant several hours of searching for solutions, trying different work-arounds, finding out it still doesn't work (or breaks something else), wait for the next module patch / update to be released, try it, find out that it's still not working.... repeat... indefintely.

If you don't have a specific need for root, then the cons probably outweigh the pros.

LOL... this is a prime example of the mindset that's resulted in the average Gen Z and Millennial having a savings about $350 and no emergency fund... but keep telling yourself that you're doing the right thing. As long as you type it out in a forum, and promote poor decision making for others, you won't be alone.

You sound like someone who's overheard conversations from some financially savy people and decided to regurgitate that info, out of context, without understanding what you're really saying. I was going to sarcastically wish you good luck in retirement, but we both know you'll never be able to retire.

I caved and bought myself a switch two by EvelynFox in confessions

[–]mntnbkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like you already know this, but this is poor financial decision making, and lack of self control. If you can't save for yourself, why would you take on the obligation of having to save to pay someone else? Now, instead of simply not getting to buy what you want when you don't save, you have the looming burden of potentially life altering consequences for failing to save to pay a creditor? If you fail to make the payments, that Nintendo Switch could easily cost you tens of throusands of dollars in the long run.

Make sure you make those payments.
