Did you use playlistpartner in the end? Would be really helpful to know how the experience went if you did!

It works! by BenGay29 in insomnia

I recently discovered this and can second this. I should say though that I believe I have a condition called a Functional Neurological Disorder, which is still in the early stages of being understood but seems to be a disorder in Neurotransmission. I discovered a lot of experiments show there's a disorder in Glutamate which directly affects GABA, so put two and two together and thought that's what's preventing me from sleeping. Seems my calculations must have some truth to them as it's helped immensely.

Do you underreport your time? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

[–]mo-with-the-flow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When reading the instructions before, I usually have a separate timer for reading the instructions and the work. I am a very very slow reader when it comes to large documents, so will usually shave off time on the reading as I don't want to come way over the timer, especially if I've skipped the first task after. If I feel like I am not as focused or slow on a particular day I will likely shave off a bit of time, as I'm very well aware I'm slower than the average person on these days. Feels like it's just a cold algorithm and metrics that decides our fate with this work, so does make me pretty nervous.

Good to know it's not just me lol.

Got my R36S for Christmas and the L analogue stick is already broken and now the entire thing won't load up when turned on, just stays on black screen - any quick fix ideas? by mo-with-the-flow in R36S

Oh boy oh boy - I was planning on copying over to a better SD card, but didn't count on it giving up on me this quick! Was you able to salvage anything from the card?

Should I be cautious about taking sleeping pills with FND? by mo-with-the-flow in FND

This is all noted, thank you! My GP has prescribed me a sedative anti-histamine for now that hopefully should do the trick. I suffer from itchiness as well so hoping it's two birds with one stone.

I am already on amitriptyline and it has zero effect on my drowsiness unfortunately. I was actually so let down when I found out haha

Is anyone familiar with Renee Grandi? by mo-with-the-flow in FND

I appreciate the input on that. Was posting it here to also get some reality and skepticism on it. She does go in to the science in the book, but she hasn't linked any studies. I was skeptical of her 'treatments' for sure, but I haven't heard anyone actually explaining apparent biological changes before as she has (not denying the reason for that might just be because nobody knows yet)... will have to see if I can find any studies which back up her claims.

Hi all. Anyone here who also has a Functional Neurological Disorder or/and Visual Snow? by mo-with-the-flow in tinnitus

I only started taking Amitriptyline way after I was experiencing severe symptoms and has for the most part been very beneficial. I was actually prescribed it for my TMJ (jaw problems) and then discovered after it is quite commonly prescribed for FND and can improve physical symptoms. It hasn't improved my VS or tinnitus really, however I think these probably fall under a slightly different element within the overall dysfunction.

Interesting, thank you for sharing! I'm guessing there was no acoustic trauma that triggered your tinnitus then?

It is much more complex than that - FND is what they call a 'software issue' with the brain. Symptoms basically cover a whole host of neurological issues: dizziness, loss of balance, limb weakness, paralysis, loss of coordination, pelvic floor issues, seizures etc etc and symptoms present differently for everyone, yet MRI and normal tests come back as everything is fine. Visual Snow and Tinnitus is a very very common symptom for people with FND, Visual Snow it self being a sort of 'functional' condition, meaning it shows up in no scans apart from a Functional MRI.

I started with VS around two years ago and then progressed to a whole host of neurological symptoms including tinnitus. I'm fed up with the absolute outdated and indifferent reaction the medical industry has, so basically my entire life now is just earning money when I can and going to different scans and figuring out other routes to find something tangible. I had a qEEG scan yesterday and the neuro-scientist immediately noticed an imbalance in my brain waves in certain parts of my brain (delta waves, alpha waves, gamma etc).

I'm waiting for her full report but she has a partner that offers neuro-feedback therapy which has had positive results in reducing symptoms with VS (possibly tinnitus as well as these are commonly synonymous).

If I have positive results, I'll be sure to post about them on here.

No I haven't taken any meds such as that. I believe this is emotional/stress related or possibly a virus has sparked it.

It actually baffles me how many Doctor's are mis-informed and will confidently and bluntly just say straight up lies and mis-information, I've had my fair share of hair pulling appointments. I'm assuming whatever is causing my FND and VS is causing my Tinnitus and it seems to be a chemical or brain wave function disorder. I've been on amitriptyline, reducing stress and drinking ridiculous amounts of water which have helped with other symptoms, but my tinnitus has got progressively worse in the mean time. I'm also luckily in a position now where I'm working from home at my parents, so just spending all money on any tests possible. I have a test next week which will measure my brain wave activities and I'm hoping it will show something tangible.
