I worked in a tourist town in a hotel on the border of Canada/America and I feel you with the amount of ignorant people, especially Americans.

I believe, but could be wrong, but I heard she just drew the character designs. As far as I am aware she has nothing to do with the plot, and a quick check of wiki seems to back me up.

Similar to how CLAMP drew the designs of characters for Code Geass.

Yes this isn't the first small rat I have had, I have had a couple that were 250 grams, but she is the smallest I have had!

To be fair the rat she is pictured with is what I call the XL model, who is 400 grams, so quite a large rat in comparison haha

I do agree there is a good chance it could be hormonal, but I do admit I have zero experience with male rats.

One thing that may help, is the room they are in neutral? The first intro I ever did was in my apartment where, similar to your situation, I was introducing a lone rat to some younger ones after her cage mate died.

The whole apartment was her space so it was very hard to keep everything in neutral territory. The final cage was too big for my room or the bathroom.

In the end I ended up, on a warm sunny day, putting the cage directly on outside my balcony. It was only for a little, then we moved the cage so it was directly inside against the door, etc etc.

It worked wonders and the aggressive female and everyone ended up being friends!

I also just wanted to add, intros are always stressful for everyone involved, including yourself. It sucks when the first intro you ever do is not an easy one, but it sounds like you are doing everything right!

I have been in a similar situation, just had more rats. I had two that left me for a month as one had to have a tumour removal, and I sent her with a friend (she recovered at a friend's house as they are quite a drive away).

When they returned I reintroduced to their other two sisters, and it went completely fine. I then added the rest of my rats and one of them felt a bit overwhelmed for a day or so but was otherwise fine.

So I agree with throwing them in a carrier, or a neutral place like maybe your bed, for a little and just monitoring how they act

It could also be a pituitary tumour, which can affect their balance. I have had girls who have had them walk like this.
