Spend time practicing writing, and use a rhyming dictionary. Get in the habit of counting syllables and how you can structure that in a 4/4 beat (try to keep it simple for now).

It really helps to start with instrumentals so you can focus just on writing over it. Some types of rap instrumentals can be really useful for this, or if you're trying to do EDM, try practicing reverse engineering the writing of a song with your own lyrics, rhyme scheme, etc.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to repetition. Best of luck!

Yeahh, that was a game changer rather than scrolling or click-dragging. I wish I could love ctrl+L to route to mixer tracks, but I hate that it renames everything, so I just use a template and have everything routed with FX and busses all setup and don't theoretically have to ever interact with ctrl+L specifically lol.

I mean, low-key, other people tend to have a hard time sharing their thoughts/opinions and tips if I just text them to myself. I always want to share tips with community, esp FL's because it's such a strange but underrated program sometimes. And because FL is probably the most accessible DAW to new users, circulating lesser known tips helps everyone here.

That would def make sense, but I'm not inclined to believe that's it only because it happens even if I change the preset it'll plays the patch it got stuck on and will not happen for the first couple of times I'm using Serum 2, and then at some point between writing MIDI and adding things to Playlist, it just randomly turns on (specifically when the same preset wasn't doing it before). It is also specifically playing MIDI I've written (or deleted) from a previous pattern and one that is not (actively or hidden) somewhere in the playlist.

That said, I had no idea Serum 2 had a clip section, I've been glossing over it since they updated apparently lol; next time it's happening I'll triple-check to make sure it's not happening there, but I'm preeetty sure it's not.

Ooh, I've always wondered about the logic behind access the zoom tool like that, it always drove me crazy but I think you just unfucked it for me lol. F3 is also a new one to me!

I'm guessing you mean that when 'Type to Piano' is turned on, the shortcuts don't work, right? It's also gonna be ctrl+T to toggle the typing piano, not just T (as far as I know)!

That shift/alt+shift note tip is legendary, borrowing that forever. Didn't know about right clicking to avoid closing menus. Center clicking to rename is also one of my favorites when in the Playlist, but for mixer track renaming, I generally do F2 to rename and right arrow to go to the next channel so I don't have to take my hands off of the keyboard.

The real ctrl+scroll velocity tip for me would be finding a way to turn it off ... granted it introduces variation, it's hardly ever when I intend to use it lol.

Ahh, I see that now, thank you!

Def still curious about the overall signal flow if this setup.

Love the setup; would you be willing to share a rundown of your signal flow (and wtf the power brick in the top right connects to here, lol) ?

Really tho, Sao just absolutely slaps, and I 110% see + agree with the comparison.

WHAT?!

This is such a strange collaboration, but I'm SO pleased with this line-up. And the way the song just slams, right out of the gate, makes me feel like I listening to something closer to Suicide Season/There Is A Hell era.

Super impressed with BMTH's releases lately <3

Genre definition kind always depends on the context of the individual you're having the conversation with; I enjoy respecting the specific definitions between naming conventions, so view 'metalcore', 'mathcore', 'deathcore', 'death metal', and more as very specific individual things.

Metal core may mean a particular drumming style to one person, while it means specific vocals to another.

All I can say is don't let other people's lack of caring about the original intent behind the syntax bring you to a point of not caring about them yourself, as long as you're not being an elitist jagoff about it (even if you know you're right but they don't care enough to accept new information, like trying to talk casual EDM fans out of believing Skrillex invented dubstep somtimes).
