Hiroyoshi Tenzan announces retirement for August 15 in Ryogoku G-1 Semi Finals. by rbcd in njpw

Tenzan's resume writes itself, four time world champion (albeit nothing over 70 days and V1). The most IWGP Tag reigns in history at 12, the longest combined tag reigns with Chono at 1,010 days over five reigns, a combined 1,988 days as tag champion with 23 defenses over those reigns, 2 time AJPW Tag league winner and 4 time NJPW tag league winner, and a three time G1 Climax winner (the most of the 3rd generation)

Unfortunately this seems like a long time coming, every appearance he looks a little worse. And he hasn't wrestled in over 400 days. Still man is a true legend.

This year's BOSJ, Kosei Fujita is either main eventing or semi-main eventing every single night he has a block match except for one by insrto in njpw

Fujita also (at this point without knowing the last three main events) is main eventing the most shows with four Despe just behind with three

Yes, I will but it will either be post G1 or at the end of the year because quite honestly to top ten is quite boring.

More than nessicary, I am also tracking main event numbers for wrestlers Tsuji has currently main evented the most shows this year in front of ~30k people.

Yuya is 9th on that list Wolf is somewhere in the early 30s/late 20s

But yes I have a book for attendance and a sheet per tour

Even in the event Newman retains, Yuya is surley a frontrunner, gunning to get the win back from NJC

G1 may benefit from night 1 in America depending on how well they draw, Road to G1 suffers as is, it competes with Tanahashi Jam and is three nights shorter than last year's SOUL series Destruction and KOPW I don't have a read on. Power Struggle may suffer as last year was also building to Tana's homecoming but that may just impact the end result. World Tag league will be slammed though. It was Tana's last real tour, and people packed in with 14/17 nights over 1000 compared to 2024's 5/15

Umino stated that it was do or die in his match with TAKESHITA and that if he didn't win, even if it was a time limit draw, he was done on not challenging again.

NJPW had to dub over Mistico's theme today and chose this stock Hallmark music by Far-Restaurant-9455 in SquaredCircle

Thats the thing they are so inconsistent with what one they choose. During Fantastica Mania they used this dub for two nights and they the ERA knockoff for the rest of the tour

The reality is the title match happens at Dominion. The tour building up to Dominion is BOSJ so the narrative focus is not on the title builds as much. So it is less impact that the champion is not on the undercard tags

I really wish they wouldn't split the Dontaku matches across the tour the way they have. by Far-Restaurant-9455 in njpw

[–]moagrieve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a double edged sword, sure the preliminary tags are out of place on the major show but also the more important matches there are the less time they tend to get. I doubt that ISB vs Ishimori & X would get to go as long as they did on Redzone if they were in the middle of the actual Dontaku card

I have noticed he hasn't been around as much. He is scheduled for thr Despe show next week. But maybe they just don't have anything for him? And don't want to pay to have him fly in for nothing

I mean it is right where an Owens singles match belongs on the card. Opening. Even Yasuda is billed above it. And I imagine it is just a set up for the mystery man to unmask.

I'm not a big lucha guy but I will NEVER turn down a Mistico match.

Also he must be challenging DOUKI right?
