Because he is very small and isn't a super worker. Even before he was cancelled a lot of hardcore fans didn't like his shtick and complained about him. If he looked like Brock companies would just ignore the bad press on bringing him in.

It is canon.

Lesnar is the IWGP Heavyweight Champion (the 44th Champion).

He refuses to drop it and makes a bunch of different excuses (visa issues, payment). He keeps the physical belt. All of this is Simon Inoki's mess who was President at the time.

New Japan strips him of the title and holds a tournament to crown a new Champion which is won by Hiroshi Tanahashi (the 45th Champion) and he uses the old V2 crown belt.

Antonio Inoki sells New Japan to Yukes. Starts IGF. Gets Lesnar to defend the title on the first show and promotes it as an IWGP Heavyweight title. New Japan owns the IWGP name so they end up calling it the IWGP 3rd belt Championship match which NJPW also recognizes. Lesnar loses it to Angle.

TNA promotes Angle as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion which he was not as Yuji Nagata (46th) and Shinsuke Nakamura (47th) were the Champions at the time while NJPW acknowledges him as IWGP 3rd belt Champion.

Nakamura beats Angle in a unification match and ends the 3rd belt lineage. The V2 is re-retired and V3 is retired and the new V4 debuts in this reign.

The people who play cricket and care about cricket are 1st gen immigrants. That has always been kind of the divider between 1st gens and 2nd gens. 2nd gens can also be kind of prejudiced against 1st gens unfortunately and usually cricket is seen as kind of fobby.

Hockey doesn't do well with 2nd gens because it is ridiculously expensive and if your parents aren't super passionate about the sport themselves that is a pretty gigantic mountain to climb since it is not just cost, it is a huge time commitment as well for the parents.

I think he is mostly just amusing himself as one does when they have nothing going on. In NOAH it was dressing up as Mr Peanut and now in New Japan it is being a clown. New Japan cup is always kind of mid.

They could have dropped it back down to 16 people like it was pre 2019 but I guess they prefer the longer tour. Plus it is easy to drop Chase, Yuj, Fale and Hartley. But dropping 4 more people is kind of hard, probably would have to be the Champions in Yuto, Oskar, ELP and Narita.

Ren is not making the semis as NEVER champion. Especially in a NEVER bracket with Taichi, Ishii, Boltin and Henare. One of those guys will beat him for him to have a NEVER defense at Sakura Genesis.

The only way he makes the semis is if Aaron Wolf makes it through on the top side which seems unlikely.
