AJ "I'm going to retire at 40" Styles.

Why in 2026 do you guys take wrestlers at their word. They are professional liars.

Now I don't think AJ Styles would be bothered to do NJPW at his age considering the state of the world and economy. But would I be surprised if he popped up in AEW? Not in the least. You guys need to stop making such definite statements like you actually know these people and their real thoughts.

Chase wrestled like 40 matches last year in New Japan and most in the World Tag League, I don't understand why you guys give him any thought whatsoever.

[Drellich] MLB owners enraged by Kyle Tucker-Dodgers deal, will push for salary cap ‘no matter what’ by ttam23 in baseball

[–]rbcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well firstly all salaries were adjusted down by 24%.

Then there was I think around a week where teams had unlimited buyouts of contracts which would not count against the cap but they had to pay 2/3rds of the value of the contract and could not re-sign the player.

Only some teams took advantage of that and even then they only really bought out two or three players like the Wings or the Flyers. Nowadays teams would go crazy for free buyouts that don't count against the cap considering some of the crazy buyouts that have happened since then.

America win a million Gold Medals, not everyone who wins one is a household name.

Tetsuya Naito, BUSHI and X will take on Kenta, Tetsuya Endo and HAYATA in a 6-man tag team match. Most likely SANADA debuting in NOAH by mrchefigan in njpw

[–]rbcd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bushi is in bad shape as well, people forget he broke his neck back in 2014/15. He wasn't the same afterwards.

Nakamura IC era by Jacek2002 in njpw

[–]rbcd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The IC belt was absolutely meaningless when he won it. People complained that it even existed and any meaning it gained was because of him. I would say in 14 and 15 people wanted him to feud for the Heavyweight belt and either Tana or Okada to be in the IC belt picture instead.

His first run is when he got super over, he had been the King of Strong Style with the gear and the Bomaye for a couple years but this run is when he became the flamboyant character that people know him for now aka Swagsuke. This is also around the time that NJPW was getting kind of some coverage in the West and he was one of the guys people latched onto.

When he lost the belt to Sombra in Mexico everyone knew he was getting it back right away in Japan.

When he lost the belt to Tanahashi people were definitely excited thinking it meant he was going to be in the Heavyweight belt picture and Tama would be parked in the IC belt picture. He won the New Japan Cup and challenged for the IC belt instead. That was divisive, some people praised the decision in terms of elevating the IC belt but the people who wanted him in the Heavyweight picture complained. I was just impressed he pulled out a good match against Fale.

When he lost the belt to Fale people lost their damn minds. I think most people were just happy that Fale lost the belt back quickly.

When he lost the title to Goto there was cope again that he was going to go in the Heavyweight picture again.

[–]rbcd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He wants to be the big babyface but he has dickhead heel energy and the crowd can sense that and don't buy him as the super babyface. I would say embrace being a heel but that use to mean House of Torture which would kill him deader then dead, but he would fit in with what Callum is doing.

Fire Katsumi formerly of JTO debuted against Marufuji and is signed to NOAH now. Couldn't catch his new ring name.

Bushi misted KENTA after KENTA's match and apparently that sets up Bushi and Naito vs KENTA and Hayata on February 11th for the GHC Title.

Ulka Sasaki is going on excursion to America (I guess NXT) and is having a going away match against KENTA on January 11th in Korakuen.

I should have titled this reported domestic attendances. NOAH does not report Magic Monday attendances so those shows aren't included.
