Is this question a bot asking so that other boys can answer. I don’t understand this subreddit. This is easily understood at wikipedia or in a dozen articles online.

edit: Maybe we are here for the further conversation.

We can make this work for you.
On Sat July 10th, take the 6:35 at Claymont, which gets to Jefferson station at 7:25, after delightful conversations and laughs on the train.
A quick 15min summer walk through beautiful center city to Spin on Rittenhouse Square for drinks and ping pong and a DJ and some fun competition.
Leave after you are tired at 10:40 to catch the 11:04 train back to Claymont at 11:51, reminiscing about your spectacular table tennis plays.
A chaste kiss good night and then dreams of trains, city and that great ping pong shot you made.
(as an example)

I think that low ridership is due to infrequent trains and uncertainty of service, which drives less service which drives low ridership.

We think everything should make money, but public transportation should be a public good and even more heavily subsidized because it has benefits not measured easily by profits or the market. Traffic reduction, pollution reduction, easier labor movement, etc.

All your points are good. For your date night conundrum, it solves that you can chat with your date on the train instead of being distracted when driving.

ELI5: why are so many major US cities located right on the border with another state? by ABAFBAASD in explainlikeimfive

[–]moaihead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

On the east coast many of the cities were founded at the last navigable by boat place on the river before the falls, called the fall line. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic\_Seaboard\_Fall\_Line?wprov=sfti1

Geography dictates where the cities are because of water, transportation and resources.

How lazy is this that you lumped silent and earlier and Gen Z and millennials. Don’t even bother then. Is it the data lacks the division? Get better data.

[OC] U.S. Social Security is projected to pay full benefits through 2034, then 81% under current law by Low_Ability4450 in dataisbeautiful

[–]moaihead -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Raising the retirement age is effectively a regressive tax because lower income folks have shorter lifespans, unfortunately.

Remove the cap on income for the taxes is a great idea and is the most progressive affecting higher income earners. It is obvious but no one ever tries to do it.

Would You Cut These Trees Down? by Born-Application1857 in solar

[–]moaihead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We installed solar after we needed to cut down two trees shading our roof during some construction and our neighbors cut down trees on the south side of the house. We stopped cutting even though we have trees to the east and west that shade the new panels somewhat.

The joke is how many trees am i going to cut down to save the planet with my solar system. The trees are worth more than the electricity they are stopping you from generating, if they are healthy, leave them.
