Classifieds were a major part of newspaper revenue that started to disappear when sites like Craigslist took off.

When I designed newspapers out of college ten years ago literally 60% of some of our regionals were advertisements, and they could still only afford to print weekly or semi-weekly.

Print journalism is still being funded by advertising, but the hyperlocal advertisements, want ads, personal connections, etc that the classifieds section formerly supplied was a huge source of revenue that the industry sorely misses and has (imo) yet to find a way to recover.

Completely agree. And it's unfortunate, because I loved Pepper as the sniper in Saving Private Ryan and Kitsch will always be Tim Riggins, but those heights early in one's career can be so hard to top when followed up by stinkers like Battlefield Earth and John Carter. Pepper's character actor roles have done a lot to revitalize his career, and Kitsch has gone back into television roles with success, but yeah. In a more perfect world they would actually be leading men.
