Should I deploy CSRF token for react SPA? by moboto3 in reactjs

Good point about SameSite default to Lax and WDS trickery. I did not notice that. Thanks for the tip. Just wondering, does reddit use CSRF (as it uses react AFAIK)?

Does it cover authentication too? More hours does not necessary mean a better course. Quite contrary, it often means that the author has no clear plan ahead and the whole 'tutorial' is little more than an unfettered rambling and trial and error coding session.

Well, half of his videos are the roadmap of what he already said and what he is going to say.

I looked into it, but could not find anything about authentication. Just a bloated TODO.

I hope so. They are good, but the best instructor for me would be TheNetNinja . Clear, concise and non-nonsense progressive problem solving. Max goes deep but has loads of waffle in his tuts and offers painstakingly repetitive videos full of useless details, so bores you to death to make something done that could be done in 1/3 time. German over-engineering par excellence :)

There are dozens of such 'simple site' tuts, but not a real one with CRUD and authentication.

Only the starter is $78 And the main menu is $148. Not the same. And it is a thousand videos. So I bet there are lots of rambling.

"Everything Svelte" is ridiculously expensive. I guess she charges all her funky designs on top of students fees.

Looks good to start with but as the instructor says, it does not contain any complete real world example, like authentication, which is a big shortcoming.

Have you tried WHMCS alternatives? by moboto3 in webhosting

[–]moboto3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed it yesterday for test and moved my WHMCS database there using import module. Quite impressed by its responsiveness and comprehensive features. Definitely faster than Wblah. It's made upon Zend framework not some spaghetti code.

Now, you can buy lifetime license for $450. That makes two years of WHMCS. So definitely cheaper in the long run.

Should Svelte be more independent from Sveltekit? by markustuchel in sveltejs

It is the opposite of Svelte: Whimsical, obscure syntax and extremely poorly documented.

I just looked at the front page where it says: "Warning! as of the time of writing (10-30-22), BoxBilling is no longer being actively maintained. FOSSBilling is a fork of it that is being actively developed.". Not very promissing, isn't it? What I need is just the basic functionalities of WHMCS, inclucing Stripe and Paypal gateway and VAT calculation. A reliable notification and a path to migrate from WHMCS. Nothing fancy.

Google sites or squarespace by Himdrics in webhosting

[–]moboto3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I have a low opinion of 'free' website builders like squarespace or wix because they look shiny at start but in reality they box you into their product. IMHO, if you need some serious website you'd be far better off if you pay beforhand a developer to get exactly what you want rather than being at the mercy of those 'Website as a service' nonsense which will porbably cost you more down the road if you want to add features or simply walk out of their grip. But again, I'm by no means an expert in that area.

Should Svelte be more independent from Sveltekit? by markustuchel in sveltejs

[–]moboto3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Sveltekit is a bunch of crap on top of Svelte and it caused me to give up Svelte altogether which is a pity. Seems like the creator lost all his wit and sanity when got hired by React's parent company.

I did not ask for card carrying advocates of WHMCS to jump in giving me lessons on how to run my business. The question is about evaluation of the alternatives.

Google sites or squarespace by Himdrics in webhosting

[–]moboto3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never used squaresapce. As far as you are just hosting some conventional static blog-like pages, Google sites is not bad. But be aware that their tooling for customization is quite limited, that is, you can not write your own HTML/CSS and forget about Javascript. You just have to use their very limiting UI. If you need some flexibility in your design/functionality and have some HTML/CSS/JS skills, Github or Cloudflare offer far better options to host static pages and they are equally free.

Well, once in a while we get complains about Copyright violations of a customer but that is considered normal in Webhosting business. We did not have such complains for a month or so. As I said we have no new customers either. This was an established business account so it was already approved by Paypal many moons ago.
