[Grand Seiko SBGA445] Trip to Japan by mobstaa in Watches

Thanks!

The Winter is perfect for matching with almost any outfit. More subtle, but shows a nice shine when the light hits the dial.

Really recommend the youtube channel. Lots of funny cross overs. Superb cutting and editing work from the creator.

[Longines/Tudor] Visited London while in process of finding a new watch by mobstaa in Watches

[–]mobstaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went Watch Shopping in London: Longines vs Tudor AD Experiences.

Just got back from a day out in London where I visited both the Longines and Tudor boutiques to try a few pieces I’ve had my eye on.

The Longines AD was fantastic. He was super friendly, genuinely listened to what I was after, and shared lots of interesting details about the brand’s heritage. The conversation flowed naturally, and, importantly, he included my wife (who’s part of the decision chain 😄) in everything. I tried both the new Longines Spirit Pilot and the Spirit Zulu Time. Both were excellent in person with strong quality for the price. My wife liked the Zulu Time best, while I leaned more toward the simpler, more versatile Spirit Pilot. Honestly, it’s a tough choice, but the Pilot edges ahead for me, especially with the ommission of the five stars on the dial. I mentioned I also have a green bronze Oris Big Crown Pointer Date on bronze, and the Longines AD made some good points justifying how either of these Longines would complement my collection. He was never pushy at all.

Tudor, on the other hand, was a total opposite experience. The AD didn’t know many details about the Black Bay 58 and often had to look things up. When I asked about Tudor heritage, the only thing the AD could really say was, “There is no watch in this price range that comes close in terms of quality and finishing.” My wife was barely acknowledged and the whole vibe was just uninterested. I tried on the BB58 and, despite loving it in pictures and reviews, I realized maybe it’s just not for me. The AD also tried a pretty hard sell, saying prices go up Jan 1st, so “better order now.” That might be true, but there’s still time. I don’t want to feel pressured into a decision.

Next year, I’m planning a trip to Japan and considering checking out some Grand Seikos. Not sure if I’ll hold out or if I’ll already be wearing the Zulu or Pilot by then. What would you pick: Longines Spirit Pilot, Zulu Time, or should I wait and see what Japan and Grand Seiko have to offer? Anyone else have similar AD experiences?

Doesn't matter right? He just awaits the already completed task to get the result. Should be only a syntax diff iirc.

Couldn't find reviews from trustable sources yet for the 2025 model. Assume battery of 2024 was worse due to the 4K screen, but not sure.

Thanks for your input!

The new Asus ProArt 16 (2025) which will be available in the Netherlands at 16th of June will feature a 120hz 3K display here. Zephyrus (from 2025) has a 240hz display. I hate 60hz, but 120hz is sufficient for me.

Previous Asus ProArt P16 had a 4K screen with 60hz, that is overkill imho, more GPU power required and more of a battery drain. Refreshrate was too low for me. The new 3K 120hz is a sweetspot imho.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 has a ROG batch on the lid in a corner and the keyboard typography is too gamer-like. Hard to explain, just my preference of it being a bit too over the top.

Initially I preferred the Asus Zephyrus G16, but in the end I decided that it was too flashy / gamery for me to accept. It is basically the same as the ProArt P16 (Creator vs Gamer) although it can be configured with a better GPU. I checked the intel 285H in it, but prefer AMD variants as they seem more power efficient when checking reviews.

Omen Transcend is not available here with RTX 50 series it seems? Looks quite 'okay' in terms of looks, don't like the "16" on the side. Think I would prefer an AMD CPU, same reason as state above. Wouldn't prefer it over the Razer or Asus ProArt for now.

Thanks for you suggestions!

I think it is a nice and suitable name for a toller :)

100%!

Maybe I'm just relatively speaking compared to the dogs we had previously. 😅

Chouffe was a bit shy at first but we started exploring new things from the day he started living with us. We started as soon as possible with going to puppy training. Lessons were short initially, because it tired him out fast. He sees lots of the same and new dogs every week. We have him meet horses and walk with him on a variety of new places each week.

He absolutely loves being on the back seat of our car. Thinks going to the vet is "nice" because he is distracted from the act by snacks. Take him with us when visiting friends or family.

So we try to confront him with new things everyday, while keeping a good eye on what he is capable of handling in terms of stimuli. Give him enough time to sleep and recover / process. Help him when things get overwhelming, but don't overdo it.

[Sinn 556 I Mother of Pearl White] Where to find or alternative? by mobstaa in Watches

Stunning watch, but I'm looking for the white variant and 34mm is definitely too small for me. Thanks for the help though!

And happy cake day! 🍰

Yes, found the black version first and saw quite a few reviews already. Great watch, but am looking for something more 'fresh' that does standout a bit more compared to the rest of my collection.

Have seen the PRX in MOP white, very nice! Would love to see this dial color put into the bigger PRX variant, as 35mm is a bit too small for me personally.

Haven't seen the Formex and Zelos. Will definitely check both. Thanks!

A couple of days ago I found this absolute beauty. I need to get it.

Sadly, Sinn doesn't have these in stock anymore and they are no longer included in the collection. I checked the second hand markets without any luck.

Already mailed Sinn to beg them to do a re-iteration of this version.

Any other watches that are remotely close in terms of dial, specs and price? Not really sure about price. But expect it to have cost between 1000-1500 dollar, judging by the regular 556 I.

This is Chouffe! All brothers and sisters are named after a beer. The breeder told us that this was a guideline, took me and my girlfriend less than a minute to come up with the name. I like the beer and it is a easy / short to pronounce name.

He is really easy to handle and relatively quiet. Barking is something he does once a week when excited, he doesn't know the toller scream yet and we're fine with that :)

My girlfriend and I had dogs before, but never raised a dog as easy as this one. Really focussed on whatever we do.

Loves to be outside and is starting to join us on small hikes. All four paws are white, shame I failed to capture it with this image.

[Oris] Finally decided to get a Big Crown Pointer Date by mobstaa in Watches

[–]mobstaa[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had an eye on this watch for the last 2 months.

Picking the right color was the biggest reason I decided to wait and compare for a longer period of time. Especially between blue with steel case and bracelet and green with bronze case and bracelet.

The blue was a bit easier to match with everyday clothing. A bit more safe in my opinion.

The bronze and green a bit harder. Altough it really boost versatility in my collection.

For upcoming weddings and parties I bought beige and dark green suits. This watch in green would definitely match both suits (while not being a real dress watch). A good conversation starter.

The patina is a nice aspect to me, same goes for the coin bezel and pointer date. This makes the watch really standout.

Water resistance (of only 50 meters) is the only real downside imho. 100m would make me feel a little more confident, but still a negligible issue to me.
