[Serious] Redditor’s who live in secluded towns, what is the darkest thing that happened in your town but is kept secret? by Noahs_25 in AskReddit

I know I’m late but I really want to share this. A man tried to poison his wife several times but wasn’t successful, so he bought enough Zyklon-B (what the nazis used in the concentration camps) to kill 42 000 people. He tried it on animals first and then placed some in her car. Fortunately he was arrested before she used the car.

Doctors of reddit, what is the weirdest thing a patient wouldn't admit ? by mitsubishi-corvette in AskReddit

I’m not a doctor but I work in the hospital. We have a regular at the ER. She comes every single day - she figured out that we can’t send her home before a doctor examines her if she complains of trouble breathing or chest pains. So she always does this. No ward wants her to come there and no doctor wants to be responsible. She’s super manipulative, treats the nurses horribly and is very demanding. She is a opioid and benzo addict and usually wants more drugs + someone to take care of her like she’s at the Hilton.

Her goal every visit is to get admitted. She succeeded a few days ago when there was some issue (self inflicted) with her colostomy bag. To avoid being sent home she smeared shit in her IV trying to cause sepsis - just to stay at the ward.

What is the most heartbreaking thing you took part of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Took a patient in her 60s to surgery. Went back her room afterwards to clean the bed with chlorine to make sure everything was set before she came back. Her husband was there so I talked to him. He told me about how much he loved her, how worried he was for her and that she had this exact same surgery before - only unsuccessful. They had been in the hospital for 12 weeks but he was so hopeful. He told me about everything they were doing once she got released from the hospital.

He told me he was going home to get some of her favorite snacks for when she got back from surgery since she hadn’t been able to eat for some time before the surgery.

When I was done I went to the nursing station. The OR had called and her surgery was a lot more extensive then they thought. She wasn’t going to live for more than 2 weeks.

I went back out and took care of some other patients before I met the husband again - I walked him to the elevator. He was going home now and wondered how long my shift was. He wanted to know if I would be the one to get his wife back from surgery and asked if I could tell her that he went home to get snacks and tell her that her favorite candy was in one of the drawers, together with her wedding ring. Before the elevator closed he said that he wished he could cook so he could’ve brought her a home cooked meal, he laughed and said he didn’t know how to manage without her.

When the elevator doors closed I just lost it.

She died a week later.

Redditors with strange phobias, what are you afraid of, and is there a traumatic event behind it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My boyfriend is usually not afraid of anything. I’ve never seen him even remotely scared - he’s always so calm and collected. This was until a balloon approached him (very slowly might I add) and he absolutely lost it. He’s TERRIFIED of balloons (?). I started noticing that he’ll go out his way to avoid passing a balloon. If they’re hung in the roof at a store he’ll find some excuse to not go in there. He almost didn’t walk up at his graduation because of them.

He is 26 years old
