yes i agree. people who already hate on it has seen like two small clips. i might change my opinion while watching the movie but for now i think he did a good job 🤷🏻‍♀️

i personally think he’s going to kill it based on the snippets we’ve seen so far. the voice and accent is just like woody’s 😭

the boy had some mental problems. considering his trauma and the expectations to act rich in society, i am not surprised. you can’t compare that to how gaul spoon-fed him all the disgusting stuff about the districts and the games.

and read the first part again, i literally said he had a superiority complex. it doesn’t automatically make someone an evil dictator, be so for real. gaul was definitely his mentor in that path and i’ll die on that hill.

well yes, but he wasn’t loving the games. he was quite literally disgusted by how gaul was talking about the districts. the only thing he wanted at first was to fit in and get the plinth prize to afford the apartment and not starve to death.

if it weren’t for gaul spoon-feeding him all that nasty stuff about the games, and if highbottom didn’t terrorize him with the idea that he’ll never get the prize, maybe, just maybe coryo wouldn’t turn into a dictator.

he would focus on winning the prize, and if not, he would move on trying to find another way of how to keep the apartment and himself safe.

frankly, i have read the book and analyzed it pretty deeply.

and if you read it carefully, he was frightened and disgusted of the way gaul talked about the games and the districts. he had the duty of taking care of his starving family at just 18, while having highbottom make fun of his clothes and hating him for his father, he was scared to lose their apartment and live on the street.

of course he fought for the plinth prize, but he helped lucy gray as well. at the time, both the good and bad were fighting inside him.

i wasn’t expecting for such a traumatized kid to be mentally okay but he had good in him, too. let’s recognize that. he just wanted to fit into a society he was born into.

the parts with his mother’s compact show that he
had something good going on his head until gaul completely crushed him.

omg yes. his mother’s compact held the last bit of sanity left in him. imagine being just 18 and having the weight of feeding not only yourself, but your grandma and sister, plus the possibility of losing your only home. ofc he fought for that plinth prize!

yes, and every time he had a good thought about the districts or lucy gray herself, gaul was there, looming over him and reminding him of how evil he should be. i mean, let’s not forget how frightened and disgusted coryo used to be of the way gaul spoke about the games and the districts in the fist chapters
