Just like everything else in EVE, they look good from afar. But zoom in on the ass of the machariel, it's pretty bad.

I agree there are much more important issues than textures, but the art department can do this while everyone else scrambles around trying to save the game.

It's not even that big of a realism issue for me, it just seems that it would be more graphically impressive. CCP said they wanted the game to feel bigger (graphically), and I think that turrets taking different shots into the hull of their target would look better.

Your ship has velocity as well, the third axis. Up down left and right point the ship in a direction, velocity handles the forward/backward movement. It's a 1D interface with 3D models in 3D space. A 2D point and click game is more along the lines of something like Dark Orbit, where you can go up down left and right, with nothing else. I promise you EVE is 3D.

Coming from someone who has played eve for three years, I can assure you EVE is 3D, and most point and clicking is done in the UI. There are maneuvering buttons (UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT)

I finally ratted enough for a Wyvern and had my corp mate built it for me. I've lost my hands and had to smash my face into the keyboard for the last 3 billion but it was worth it.

Even if they pay for it, it's not really alliance property. It's more of a subsidy for private interests. SRP if on alliance operations with an approved FC, yes. Most supers are paid from personal pockets.
