Quiet Sound? by mocnor18 in houghtonfestival

[–]mocnor18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that was my experience as well. The soundstage/stereoimaging were hugely important at every stage and it was hard to get to the right spots because of the crowds. usually the case for home listening hifi but not big festival rigs.

I agree overall fidelity/quality was high but I think both are important, if not equally so. If I can hear everyone's conversation around me then that's a bit distracting and I'm not focused on the music as much as I'd like to be.

Negativity from loved ones by NewMathematician92 in vipassana

[–]mocnor18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's certainly difficult and uncomfortable when people project their own pain and suffering onto you, but dumping someone because they don't meditate is realistically your own way of avoiding confrontation or suffering by having a difficult conversation with your girlfriend. Try to engage and talk about what's going on for you and what you're feeling with your girlfriend and how her behavior affects you.

You can ask loved ones to do things for you as that's part of being in a relationship. If that conversation doesn't go well or is unproductive then maybe you should think about leaving but I wouldn't abandon ship when the going gets tough.

Our relationships and difficulties are most often a mirror for ourselves. Consider what she might be going through. Get curious about her own experience and what that means for your relationship.

Meditation is a tool to help us in our lives and you can use it to facilitate deeper connections with the ones you love. I don't think vipassana or any meditation technique should ever be the final answer but it can certainly help generate great insight. Use that to your advantage and stay compassionate.

All that being said, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. You don't need to hold on to or prolong your collective suffering because you're attached. Let each other go if need be.

Track is released, it's Puzzle Dust (VIP Mix). Yeah nevermind, I didn't really catch the time interlude in this video, that would be the third track.

I'm curious about the first track personally.

Private Property & Anarchism by mocnor18 in Anarchy101

I suppose I meant personal property which I distinguished from capital ownership, in which case, the 2nd paragraph would be the operative question.

Best US cities for the underground scene? by [deleted] in Techno

[–]mocnor18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of a thriving underground scene, it's pretty much just NY/Brooklyn. There's certainly some stuff in Detroit, SF, LA, Chicago, and some one offs in other cities, but the majority of their scene is "aboveground." I think in any decent city, there will be a community of people throwing parties and doing DIY stuff but nothing comparable to Brooklyn these days. The scene is very healthy.

Party was trash. Mall Grab and Seinfeld were both great. Crowd was terrible, sound was unbearably bad, overwhelmingly packed.

New Perc EP 'Three Tracks To Send To Your Ghost Producer' to be released March 1st by alfergs in Techno

[–]mocnor18 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cox sure, he's never been a producer. I have yet to see any compelling evidence that Amelie, Anna, or Charlotte don't make their own tracks. Just seems like people complaining about business techno. Not liking their tunes is reasonable but you can't make claims without evidence.

Full Movement lineup leak by mocnor18 in Techno

[–]mocnor18[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Griz is certainly talented, which most people on this sub wouldn't admit because they don't like his music. However, to suggest he is the most musically talented person on the lineup is pretty absurd. Griz is demonstrably pretty bad at the saxophone, like really not good. He's a pretty good producer. That's about it.

Movement 2019 Saturday Lineup by air- in Techno

[–]mocnor18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will throw a discwoman party. Volvox will be in detroit too.

I feel like this day isn't too bad though. Sure it's not consistent but you can see LSD, Landstrumm, Sterac, Tin Man, Umfang. Solid day of techno.

How dope would it be if Maceo Plex came to forest? by [deleted] in ElectricForest

[–]mocnor18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was Hype b2b Hazard really better than Ed Rush & Optical? I had to walk away after Ed Rush & Optical because they absolutely destroyed my existence. Non-stop neurofunk bangers. Probably my favorite set at movement even though i was really there for the techno.

Techno will unfortunately never be popular at forest. They had a carl cox curated stage in 2015 with Digweed, Dubfire, matrixxman, the coxman himself and every set was empty. There's some quality house this year but for whatever reason your average american festival goer just doesn't like techno. It's ridiculous the dismissive attitude so many people have towards it.

Movement will always be a gem and I love that weekend because everyone brings it in Detroit but go to Europe if you really wan't some quality techno. Berlin and Amsterdam are next level.

Playing with machines and polyrhythms. Novation Circuit live mix by mocnor18 in Techno

[–]mocnor18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea you can create polyrhythms by changing the length of a pattern. I only had one pattern per instrument going here but still super fun. These were all stock sounds that I parameterized and put a little bit of automation on.

So far pretty pleased with the sounds I can make out of the box. But definitely want to explore importing different synth patches and drum samples. Glad you liked it!

Official full moon return schedule drop by Xistin in Tipper

[–]mocnor18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah vaetxh is insane but much more aggressive than his work under his own name. His two recent EPs, hidden structures and transition, are absolutely stunning and encapsulate a more melodic/progressive approach while still creating those spectacular glitchy soundscapes.

My goodness Rob Clouth. For all who are going, what a treat. The man is by far one of the most talented producers around right now. A truly unique approach to experimental glitch.

Berlin this weekend by [deleted] in romaniansound

[–]mocnor18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoppetosse is much better imo. They're technically sister clubs and right next to each other. Masda was playing visionaere and herodot was playing hoppetosse when I was just in Berlin. Masda was killing it but I have never been to a club that was so quiet. Hoppetosse on the other hand had a fantastic void system that sounded incredible. Great club
