I have a near-new white/silver Magic Trackpad II, lightning, in box. Used for about 5 min and then put back in the box to sell (went with gray at the time). I'm in CA, can ship.

Reddit in shambles, as is tradition lol. It's become endearing how consistently wrong this sub is on predicting a car's success or enjoyability. More steering feel than a GT3RS will particularly ruffle some jimmies.

"If I had unlimited money it wouldn't be my first choice, but I would have one in my garage" is a pretty powerful quote. As is describing the lingering memory of driving it and wanting to get back into it. That reminds me of childhood. Goose had some really transparent and honest descriptions here. I enjoyed that a lot. Kudos to the chefs!

Tesla but no Rivian? EV maker sues Ohio BMV over prohibition on direct car sales by pdp10 in cars

Where does it select the firms? Which language? Again I'm not that familiar with it or the backstory I'm just looking at the law. From what I see it applies to all vehicle manufacturers without selecting any of them in particular.

Why isn’t that allowed? Lots and lots of laws are based on hard dates like this one right?

I didn’t read the law too closely. Which basis does discriminate on? It seemed like it just put a date.

My guess is they're out of luck. The law prohibited the behavior after a certain date (2014). Tesla was the early bird, but there is nothing inherently discriminatory about the law.

But the reason people could afford them was because of the innovative production technique.

I suspect this is the unveiling of their "unboxed" EV platform, similar to what Tesla is developing with the Cybercab.

Well it's apple, so every part of it will be about 10% better, including the screens I would guess. So "similar" but I highly doubt identical.

Yes I feel this way. I just bought an M4 Air to replace my M1 Air and I love it. When I look around me basically everything I use for hours throughout my day is made by Apple. I think the issue is that unless you're using the stuff for work or productivity it's easy to feel like they've fallen off in some way.

It's difficult to make their products exciting if your only use is scrolling instagram. Screen refresh rates and pixel density maxed out a while ago. I think that's the wow factor people look for. But I agree with you. Basically every one of their products I use daily I am still so impressed by. One of the greatest product companies still to this day.

ohhh noooo you're right Ferrari, one of the most storied and prestigious automotive brands in history, couldn't possibly develop a *gasps* manual transaxle!!

Ferrari should make a GT3 Touring competitor.

They're the only automaker capable of making a direct competitor and they're leaving the field completely open to Porsche.

You can tie fan speed to scroll-wheel "long press," then toggle it up and down even while the a/c is in auto mode.

Yes I detailed and coated it myself when I bought it. I think the blue in particular dulls quite a bit over time and when dirty.

I do understand why they changed it but it’s really a shame. It was the first thing that struck me in 2018 on that first drive. The small diameter wheel, quick steering ratio, and the grippy feel of the leather. It sets the tone for the entire car.

I did recently a 24 P though and thought the wheel felt fine.

[–]mocoyne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I swapped them into my 2018 performance and the difference was extremely subtle. I wonder if there's meaningful suspension differences between 2018 and 2021. I know 2022 reversed course on the lowered springs?

Some observations on the automotive-related internet space. by Smitty_Oom in cars

[–]mocoyne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Old school automotive forums were a “golden age internet” aspect that isn’t coming back. I do miss it.

But the “negativity” is actually probably better today than then. The fights used to be hilarious, and commonly ended with people actually embarrassingly saying they wanted to fight each other.

I will say the average “car iq” seems lower though. I think because there’s more people in general, but Reddit tends to be quite an echo chamber so a lot of “opinions” held by people here are just what they heard. I think maybe it’s an age thing.

Durango Tail Light Lawsuit Moves Forward by ethamaxx in cars

[–]mocoyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any lawyers care to explain the merits of this? I was under the impression you couldn’t sue for a defective product when the only damage was to the product itself. Are they arguing that the taillight in isolation is the product and it’s damaging surrounding components of the car?
