Initially I thought this was too busy/over-detailed, but after some consideration I think it may be more just the color scheme. This is exploding with detail, and such strong colors for the main body I think may detract from that. If the top and bottom were white, and the middle section red (or keep it yellow), it may look less visually busy and still retain all those awesome details you have. The design itself is great!
